Jensen has revealed the Interceptor GTX, an all-new, supercharged-V8 track prototype inspired by the 1966 Interceptor. It is not a road-legal revival or a continuation of the original: Jensen says the GTX is an engineering template for two planned road-going models, the performance-focused GTR and the more luxurious GT.
What is the new Jensen Interceptor?
The Interceptor GTX is a track-only enhanced prototype from Jensen International. The company describes it as an entirely new car that takes inspiration from the classic Interceptor rather than a restoration or continuation. The distinction matters: the GTX is not the road-going customer car some readers may expect from an Interceptor revival. Jensen presents it as a development platform for the planned GTR and GT.
What engine and power does the GTX have?
The GTX has a front-mounted, supercharged V8 driving the rear wheels. Car and Driver’s September 4, 2026 report says the revealed car has a 6.8-litre engine producing 960 horsepower and a six-speed sequential transaxle. Car and Driver’s reveal coverage

Jensen’s figures need to be read with care. Its homepage describes the GTX as a 960bhp car, while its GTX page says the V8 can produce “up to 1200bhp” and lists a manual or sequential transaxle. Car and Driver likewise presents 960 horsepower as the revealed car’s output and 1200 horsepower as possible capability. How is the new car built and styled?
Jensen says the GTX pairs an aluminium chassis with a hand-formed aluminium body. The company describes the car as designed, engineered and handcrafted in the UK. Its design draws on the 1966 Interceptor, but managing director David Duerden says the aim was not to revisit an existing car: “From the outset though, our intention was never to build a continuation car or revisit something that already existed.” Jensen International About page

That makes the GTX a new design with a historical reference, not a factory-built reproduction. The available information does not establish a like-for-like price or production-volume comparison with the original Interceptor.
Will the new Jensen Interceptor be road legal?
The GTX is explicitly track-only. Jensen’s planned road-going models are the GTR, described as the high-performance follow-up, and the more luxury-oriented GT. The company says it intends to develop the GTR after further work on the GTX, with the GT to follow. Jensen GTX page

Jensen has not established launch dates, prices, production totals, final specifications or current order availability for either road car in the information reviewed. The GTX’s track-only status should not be mistaken for a confirmed specification or availability claim about the future GTR or GT.
