Forbes reported in November 2024 that it combines a 1966–1977 Bronco foundation with options including a supercharged 760-hp V8 and a full carbon-fiber body.
What makes this Bronco an official Shelby?
Gateway Bronco is the builder, and Shelby is the licensing and brand partner. Forbes reported that the collaboration took eight years to bring the Shelby Sport SUV to market and that the vehicle is based on Gateway Bronco’s retro-inspired LUXE-GT Edition. The “official” distinction refers to the Shelby license; it does not make the SUV a Ford factory model or a Shelby American-built product. Forbes reported on the SUV and partnership on November 7, 2024.
What does the Shelby Sport SUV offer?
Forbes describes the vehicle as built around a 1966–1977 Ford Bronco. Its reported headline options are substantial, but they are configurations described in the 2024 report—not independently tested specifications here.

How does Carroll Shelby’s Bronco history fit?
The Shelby name has a historical connection to Broncos, but that context is distinct from who builds this restomod. In a June 2, 2023 release about its Centennial Edition F-150, Shelby American said Carroll Shelby used a Ford Bronco at his Terlingua, Texas, ranch in the 1960s and described his interest in off-road driving.
“Carroll loved motoring both on and off the road, especially in rugged terrain. He would trek across the desert on both two and four wheel vehicles.”

That release provides heritage context; it does not announce or identify the Gateway Bronco collaboration as a Shelby American production vehicle.
