The 2026 Fiat Topolino has reached the U.S. in limited quantities through selected dealers, but the familiar 28-mph figure applies to the European version, not the U.S. model. Fiat lists the American Topolino at 19 mph in standard form; a dealer-installed conversion kit expected in fall 2026 is intended to raise its estimated maximum speed to 25 mph.
Is the Fiat Topolino coming to the U.S.?
It is already being offered here: Fiat says limited quantities of the 2026 Topolino and Topolino Dolcevita are available through select U.S. dealers. The announced MSRP is $13,995, excluding destination. Fiat’s ordering page lists a $990 destination fee, but that is not an out-the-door total; taxes and any dealer-specific charges can add to the cost.
The Topolino is a small, two-seat electric vehicle intended for low-speed use. Its American speed rating and road-use limitations differ from those of the European version that inspired the “28 mph” description.
Why do some reports say 28 mph?
That speed comes from European specifications. Stellantis’ 2023 technical sheet lists the European Topolino at 45 km/h—about 28 mph—and 6 kW, or 8.2 metric horsepower. Fiat’s U.S. materials list 6 kW / 8 HP, but a lower speed: 19 mph standard, with an estimated 25 mph maximum when equipped with the planned conversion kit. These are manufacturer specifications, not results from a direct comparative test.
| Specification | European Topolino | U.S. Topolino |
|---|---|---|
| Power | 6 kW / 8.2 metric horsepower, per Stellantis’ European technical sheet | 6 kW / 8 HP, per Fiat’s U.S. materials |
| Top speed | 45 km/h (about 28 mph), per Stellantis’ European technical sheet | 19 mph standard; estimated up to 25 mph with the planned dealer-installed kit, per Fiat |
| Battery | 5.4 kWh, per Stellantis’ European technical sheet | 5.4 kWh, per Fiat |
| Range | Not used here as a U.S. comparison; the U.S. figure should not be replaced with a European claim | Up to 46 miles per charge, a Fiat estimate |
What are the U.S. versions, price and dimensions?
Fiat lists two versions, both seating two and currently shown in Verde Vita Mint:
- Topolino: doors and a glass roof.
- Topolino Dolcevita: door ropes and a roll-back soft top.
The vehicle measures 99.6 inches long, 56.4 inches wide and 61.2 inches high, with a listed curb weight of 1,073 pounds. Fiat’s U.S. materials specify a 5.4-kWh lithium-ion battery.
How fast can the U.S. Topolino go, and where can it be driven?
In standard U.S. form, Fiat estimates a 19-mph maximum speed and positions the vehicle for leisure use in private or gated communities. Fiat says a dealer-installed street-legal or low-speed-vehicle (LSV) conversion kit is expected in fall 2026; with it, the estimated maximum is 25 mph. The kit is planned, so buyers should confirm its availability and installation timing with a participating dealer.
Fiat says the Topolino cannot be driven on highways or major roads. The company describes properly equipped LSVs as usable on most U.S. roads posted at 35 mph or less, but that is not a guarantee that every such road is legal for this vehicle in every location. Check state and local requirements for the specific route you intend to use.
