Based on the 488 Spider, it paired that car’s 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 with distinctive roadster-inspired styling. Ferrari’s own description of its market-specific specials helps explain the J50’s limited reach.
What was the Ferrari J50?
The J50 was a limited-production Ferrari special created for Japan. The title does not name a model, so the J50 is the best-supported interpretation: evo reported in 2018 that ten were built for Ferrari Japan to celebrate 50 years of Ferrari in the country.
It was based on the Ferrari 488 Spider and used that car’s 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8. Its styling drew on the idea of 1960s Ferrari roadsters, rather than copying one particular historic model, according to evo.
Why was the J50 associated with Japan?
The J50 commemorated Ferrari’s half-century in Japan, and its production was aimed at that market. Ferrari’s 2017 sustainability report says its Fuori Serie models “can be offered globally, or may be limited to specific local markets.” That framework puts the J50 in the context of Ferrari specials made for a particular market, rather than suggesting it was the only Ferrari ever restricted to a single country.

Ferrari’s Fuori Serie market specials should also be distinguished from its One-Off program. Ferrari describes One-Off cars as unique vehicles created around individual clients’ requirements; a market special such as the J50 was produced in a small series.
How did the J50 compare with other market-specific Ferraris?
The J50 was not the only Ferrari special linked to a national market. Reporting on the F60 America and 599 GTB Fiorano China Limited Edition provides useful comparisons, although the available details are not equally complete for all three cars.

The cited reporting establishes the J50’s original limited production, but it does not establish current prices, availability, or where an example may be offered for sale. The J50 is a rare collector car, not a model to expect through ordinary new-car channels; any claim about current inventory or value would need up-to-date confirmation.
