However, the fastest car in the Nürburgring’s official Sports Cars category is the Porsche 911 GT2 RS with the Manthey Performance Kit, which recorded 6:43.300 on June 14, 2021.
That distinction matters. Nürburgring records are divided into categories, and the list includes cars fitted with commercially available performance kits, track-focused road-legal tires, and optional aerodynamic packages. Prototype and pre-production results—including faster Corvette and Xiaomi laps—are not included in the production-car ranking.

Important note about the two Manthey-equipped 911 GT3 entries: the available record data lists both a 6:55.737 lap dated April 21, 2022 and a faster 6:52.981 lap from November 7, 2025. They should not be silently treated as the same exact car and specification. The earlier entry is sometimes labeled as a 992.2 in published data, although that model-generation label does not sit comfortably with the 2022 date, so the table uses a neutral description for the earlier result.
What “fastest production car” means at the Nürburgring
There is no single unrestricted Nürburgring leaderboard called “production cars.” The official record system separates attempts into classifications such as Sports Cars, Super Sports Cars, Modified Vehicles, and Prototype/Pre-Production Vehicles.
The Mercedes-AMG ONE is therefore the overall road-car benchmark in this comparison because Nürburgring lists it in the Super Sports Car category. The Porsche 911 GT2 RS Manthey is the category leader among Sports Cars, but it is not an unmodified showroom car: its time was set with the customer-orderable Manthey Performance Kit.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
That makes the most accurate headline conclusion two-part:
- Fastest official road-car or production-derived lap overall: Mercedes-AMG ONE, 6:29.090.
- Fastest official Sports Car-category lap: Porsche 911 GT2 RS Manthey, 6:43.300.
If “production car” means a completely standard car with no factory options, no special tires, and no customer performance kit, the official table does not provide a perfectly clean answer. Several entries used equipment that materially affects lap performance.
How official Nürburgring times are recorded
The relevant lap is the standard full Nordschleife distance of 20.832 kilometers. Official attempts use the defined T13 start/finish line, begin with a flying start, and are timed using calibrated equipment under notary supervision. Nürburgring also checks the vehicle’s condition and its category classification.
These details make official Nürburgring times more useful than many informal manufacturer claims, but they do not make every lap directly interchangeable. A car’s tires, options, weather, track temperature, driver, traffic conditions, and category all remain important context.

Why older Nürburgring lists can be misleading
Many older claims used a shorter 20.6-kilometer layout rather than the current 20.832-kilometer full-lap standard. A time recorded over 20.6 kilometers should not be compared directly with one recorded over the official full distance.
The same problem applies to category mixing. A prototype may be quicker than every production-derived car, while a heavily optimized modified road car may beat a standard production model. Those results can all be legitimate in their own classifications without being equivalent records.
The fastest entries explained
1. Mercedes-AMG ONE — 6:29.090
The Mercedes-AMG ONE holds the fastest official road-car or production-derived time in the ranking. Its 6:29.090 lap was recorded on September 23, 2024 in the Nürburgring’s Super Sports Car category.

It leads the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Manthey by 14.210 seconds. That is a substantial margin on a lap lasting less than seven minutes, although the comparison is still category-sensitive: the AMG ONE is listed as a Super Sports Car, while the Porsche is listed as a Sports Car with a Manthey upgrade package.
2. Porsche 911 GT2 RS Manthey — 6:43.300
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS with Manthey Performance Kit is the fastest official entry in the Sports Car category at 6:43.300. The Manthey kit is customer-orderable, which makes the result relevant to production-based performance but different from a standard, unmodified 911 GT2 RS.
That distinction is why the Porsche should be called the fastest Sports Car-category entry, not simply the fastest stock production car. The separate Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR lap of 6:44.749 is also excluded from this ordinary production ranking because Nürburgring lists it under Modified Vehicles.

3. Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series — 6:48.047
The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series remains the second-fastest Sports Car-category production entry in the official table, with a 6:48.047 lap recorded on November 4, 2020. It is also the quickest non-Porsche entry in the conventional Sports Car portion of this ranking.
4. Porsche 911 GT3 RS — 6:49.328
The 992.1 Porsche 911 GT3 RS recorded 6:49.328 on October 5, 2022. The record specification included the Weissach Package and road-legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.
Those details should remain attached to the time. The result is not merely a generic 911 GT3 RS lap; it represents a particular factory option package and tire configuration. The Michelin tire is road-legal in Porsche’s record description, but it is a track-focused product whose suitability depends on temperature, road conditions, local regulations, vehicle fitment, and the driver’s experience. A record-car specification should not be read as a blanket recommendation for everyday road use.
5. Ford Mustang GTD — 6:52.072
The Ford Mustang GTD set the fastest 2025 lap in the combustion-engined Sports Car category, recording 6:52.072 on April 9, 2025. It was the fourth-fastest entry in that category at the time of Nürburgring’s announcement and remains the leading 2025 internal-combustion Sports Car result in the supplied record set.
The Mustang GTD did not beat the AMG ONE’s overall road-car time or the GT2 RS Manthey’s established Sports Car-category benchmark, but it became the first American car near the top of this particular official leaderboard.

A Porsche 911 GT3 fitted with the Manthey Performance Kit recorded 6:52.981 during a November 7, 2025 attempt. That is quicker than the earlier 6:55.737 GT3 Manthey entry and places the newer disclosed lap between the Mustang GTD and the earlier GT3 Manthey benchmark when the laps are ordered purely by time.
Because the record data identifies both attempts but does not provide enough matching specification detail to collapse them into one line with complete confidence, both are shown in the table. The kit label is essential: the time belongs to a Porsche GT3 optimized with a commercially available Manthey package, not to an untouched standard GT3.

7. Manual Porsche 911 GT3 — 6:56.294
The 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 with a manual transmission recorded 6:56.294 on April 8, 2025. Porsche specified the optional Weissach Package and road-legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires for the lap.
It is the fastest production-car result in this list with a manual transmission. The time is especially useful for readers who want to separate outright lap speed from transmission involvement: an automatic or dual-clutch-equipped car may be faster, but this is the benchmark for a manual production Porsche in the supplied official results.
Why the 2025 Corvette and Xiaomi laps are not in this ranking
The fastest Nürburgring lap recorded during 2025 was not a production-car lap. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype recorded 6:22.091, but Nürburgring classified it as a prototype/pre-production vehicle. It is therefore quicker than the AMG ONE but does not replace it as the fastest official production-derived road-car benchmark.
Chevrolet’s Corvette results create a similar classification issue:
- Corvette ZR1X: 6:49.275.
- Corvette ZR1: 6:50.763.
Those attempts were classified as Prototype/Pre-Production rather than Sports Cars. The vehicles were described as U.S. production-spec cars with only track-recommended safety modifications, but Nürburgring’s classification reflected their sales and geographic status: the relevant vehicles were not sold in Europe, and the Z06 was a North American variant. “Production-spec” in a manufacturer’s description does not automatically mean “production car” in Nürburgring’s official category system.
What the ranking says about modern performance cars
Porsche dominates the conventional Sports Car list. Depending on whether the newer 2025 GT3 Manthey attempt is counted separately, Porsche entries occupy most of the positions from the GT2 RS through the 718 Cayman GT4 RS. The list includes the GT2 RS Manthey, GT3 RS, GT3 Manthey, manual GT3, earlier GT3, 718 Cayman GT4 RS Manthey, 911 Turbo S, and unmodified 718 Cayman GT4 RS.
Mercedes-AMG owns two important records: the overall road-car benchmark with the ONE and the non-Porsche Sports Car benchmark with the GT Black Series. Ford’s Mustang GTD is the major 2025 addition, while the prototype classification keeps the spectacular Corvette and Xiaomi laps in a separate lane.

The broader lesson is that Nürburgring ranking depends as much on definitions as on raw time. A seven-minute lap needs a stated circuit length, start procedure, vehicle category, equipment specification, and production status before it can be compared responsibly with another seven-minute lap.
How to quote these records accurately
- Name the circuit standard: say 20.832-kilometer Nordschleife lap when comparing official current times.
- State the category: distinguish Sports Car, Super Sports Car, Modified Vehicles, and Prototype/Pre-Production Vehicles.
- Include the car’s setup: identify Manthey kits, Weissach Packages, manual transmissions, and Cup 2 R tires where they formed part of the record specification.
- Do not call a customer-kit car stock: commercially available does not mean mechanically unmodified.
- Separate 2025-only results from all-time benchmarks: the Mustang was the fastest combustion-engined Sports Car entry in 2025, but the AMG ONE and GT2 RS Manthey retained the headline records.
Methodology note: This comparison uses the Nürburgring’s official Nordschleife record system as the primary authority. Manufacturer descriptions are used for vehicle specifications and record-car equipment, while category and timing claims follow the Nürburgring classifications (c001–c010).
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Mercedes-AMG ONE the fastest production car around the Nürburgring?
It is the fastest official road-car or production-derived entry in the supplied Nürburgring record set through December 31, 2025, with a 6:29.090 lap. It is listed in the Super Sports Car category, so it should not be compared with prototype laps or described as the winner of every Nürburgring category.
Is the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Manthey a stock production car?
No. The 6:43.300 record was set by a Porsche 911 GT2 RS fitted with the customer-orderable Manthey Performance Kit. It is production-based and commercially available, but it is not the same as an unmodified showroom car.
Why are the Corvette ZR1 and ZR1X missing from the production-car ranking?
Nürburgring classified their 6:50-range attempts in the Prototype/Pre-Production category. Although they were described as U.S. production-spec cars with track-recommended safety modifications, the official classification reflected their geographic sales and variant status.
What is the fastest manual-transmission production car on this list?
The 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 with a manual transmission recorded 6:56.294. The attempt used the Weissach Package and road-legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.
Can older 20.6-kilometer Nürburgring lap times be compared with these records?
Not directly. The current official standard is the full 20.832-kilometer Nordschleife lap using the defined T13 start/finish line. Older claims over a 20.6-kilometer layout cover a different distance.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The Mercedes-AMG ONE is the fastest official road-car or production-derived Nürburgring entry through the end of 2025 at 6:29.090. For the official Sports Car category, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS with Manthey Performance Kit leads at 6:43.300. The 2025 Mustang GTD, Porsche GT3 Manthey, manual GT3, and prototype Corvettes are significant results, but each needs its category and equipment specification stated alongside the time.
