In an August 2026 U.S. market snapshot, the least expensive realistic running Porsches start around $6,000 for a 924, $7,000 for a first-generation Cayenne, $9,000 for a 944, and $10,000 for a 986 Boxster. Those are indicative asking-price ranges, not guaranteed purchase prices—and the cheapest Porsche to buy may not be the cheapest to keep on the road.

What are the cheapest Porsches in the U.S.?

CarCody’s August 17, 2026 guide reports these U.S. asking-price bands from August 2026 market snapshots. The figures exclude tax, registration, transport, inspection, immediate maintenance, and a repair reserve. The 987 Boxster range partly draws on observed sales rather than asking prices. They are not fixed valuations or a market-wide statistical ranking.

Model Indicative U.S. price band What you are shopping for
Porsche 924 $6,000–$15,000 Classic sports car
First-generation Cayenne $7,000–$18,000 Older SUV
Porsche 944 $9,000–$25,000 Classic sports car
986 Boxster $10,000–$20,000 Mid-engine roadster
987 Boxster $18,000–$30,000 Mid-engine roadster
987 Cayman $20,000–$35,000 Mid-engine coupe
996-generation 911 $35,000–$50,000 911 sports car

Source for all bands: CarCody’s August 17, 2026 guide. Its lower-end estimates for realistic running examples are about $6,000 for a 924, $7,000 for a first-generation Cayenne, $9,000 for a 944, and $10,000 for a 986 Boxster.

Which cheap Porsche fits what you want?

924: the lowest entry price

The 924 has the lowest reported starting point, but age and storage history matter. Check structural rust, fuel-system operation, cold starts, overheating, leaks, transmission noise, and brakes. Ask for documentation of timing-belt and water-pump work, and inspect model-specific trim and weather seals. A low asking price can become expensive if the car needs extensive work to be roadworthy.

944: budget for documented service

For a 944, make timing-belt and cooling-system records central to the decision. If records are missing, treat the work as due when setting your budget. A receipt for parts alone does not establish that the service was completed correctly. See the model-specific checks in CarCody’s guide to cheap Porsche models.

986 Boxster: affordable mid-engine roadster

A 986 Boxster offers a different kind of entry point: a mid-engine convertible rather than a classic front-engine coupe. The guide flags cooling, suspension, clutch, convertible-top, and engine-related work as areas to investigate. Favor a documented car with a satisfactory inspection over one chosen only for its low price.

First-generation Cayenne: inexpensive SUV, substantial repair exposure

The Cayenne can be one of the cheapest Porsches to purchase, but its SUV drivetrain and systems can expose a buyer to repairs that exceed the purchase price. Investigate V8 cooling-system repairs, air-suspension faults, transfer-case issues, electronics, and drivetrain condition. Leave a meaningful repair reserve rather than spending the full budget on the vehicle.

996-generation 911: the least expensive route to a 911 in this snapshot

The guide puts higher-mileage 996 Carrera examples around $35,000–$50,000 in its U.S. snapshot. That makes it a route to a 911, not the cheapest Porsche overall. A specialist inspection and money set aside for repairs remain important.

How to find current local listings

Prices vary with condition, mileage, service history, trim, originality, and location. Porsche Finder is the brand’s official used-car inventory search, with filters for model line, model year, body style, engine and transmission, price, mileage, previous owners, and other listing details. You can sort by price from low to high, mileage, or model year. Because inventory changes and is geographically filtered, use it to check listings in your area rather than treating an individual listing as a stable market average: Porsche Finder U.S.

The figures above are U.S.-specific examples, not worldwide prices. Porsche says local taxes, import duties, exchange rates, and standard equipment affect pricing between countries. For current regional pricing, check the relevant local Porsche website or Porsche Centre: Porsche model and pricing information.

How to keep the purchase price from driving the decision

  1. Pick the kind of Porsche you want. A 924 or 944 is a classic sports car, the Boxster is a mid-engine roadster, the Cayenne is an SUV, and the 996 is a 911. Compare vehicles that suit the same intended use before comparing sticker prices.
  2. Ask for service records before traveling to see the car. For a 944, look specifically for timing-belt and cooling-system work. For other models, request records relevant to the issues noted above and clarify what remains unfinished.
  3. Arrange an inspection and evaluate the findings. A Porsche specialist pre-purchase inspection can help expose deferred maintenance and model-specific risks. Treat its findings—not the seller’s description or parts receipts—as the basis for estimating near-term work.
  4. Build the full budget. Add tax, registration, transport, inspection, immediate service, and a repair reserve to the asking price. Do not buy at the top of your budget if that leaves no room to address problems.
  5. Compare the car, not just its model name. Weigh condition, mileage, trim, location, originality, maintenance history, inspection results, parts access, and the money left for repairs. A higher-priced example with convincing records may be a more sensible purchase than the cheapest listing.

What do new-car prices tell you?

They provide context, not a used-car comparison: Porsche’s published U.S. guide listed an approximate Macan starting price of $65,400 as of May 2026. That new-car figure does not establish the value of any used model. For current local new-car pricing and specifications, Porsche advises checking your local site or Centre: Porsche pricing information.
