Nissan Leaf takes three separate honors: Car of the Year, Best Budget Vehicle and Best EV. The awards are Valnet’s, selected by editors from CarBuzz, TopSpeed and HotCars—not the unrelated Cars.com “Best of” awards.
2026 Buzz Awards winners
| Award category | Winner |
|---|---|
| Best Performance Car | Ford Mustang GTD |
| Car of the Year | Nissan Leaf |
| Best Luxury Vehicle | Lucid Gravity |
| Best Budget Vehicle | Nissan Leaf |
| Best EV | Nissan Leaf |
| Best Family Car | Hyundai Palisade |
| Best Truck | Ford Maverick |
| Best Off-Road Warrior | Toyota 4Runner |
The organizer lists one overall Car of the Year award and seven other category awards. Nissan Leaf’s three honors are distinct: the list names it separately as the overall winner, the budget winner and the EV winner.
How Valnet says winners are selected
Valnet says expert editors from CarBuzz, TopSpeed and HotCars choose the winners through “rigorous testing, debate, and voting.” It also says dozens of editors review hundreds of cars during the year, and that winners stand out for performance, innovation and driving enjoyment. Those are the organizer’s descriptions; the awards page does not publish judge names, vote totals, detailed scoring rules, test conditions or a common score for comparing all eight vehicles.
Valnet describes the Buzz Awards as its highest vehicle accolade each year. Its page also prints combined audience figures of 13.8 million users, 22.4 million pageviews and 11.2 million social followers for CarBuzz, TopSpeed and HotCars. The page does not date those figures or explain their measurement methodology, so they should be understood as figures presented by Valnet, not as dated or independently verified measurements.

What the awards tell car shoppers—and what they don’t
The category names give readers a quick way to identify the organizer’s pick for a particular use case: performance, luxury, budget, electric driving, family transport, truck capability or off-road use. They do not establish that every winner was compared on a single scale or in a documented head-to-head test.
The awards page does not specify the exact model year or trim for any winner, nor does it provide prices, specifications or an eligibility market. Treat the list as a set of award selections rather than a complete buying comparison. Anyone considering a vehicle should confirm its current local availability, configuration and pricing with the manufacturer or a dealer.
