The Bricklin name returned in 2024 with the announced 3EV, a fully enclosed, two-passenger electric three-wheeler associated with Malcolm Bricklin and the 1970s SV-1. Visionary Vehicles publishes a claimed range of 275+ miles and a current listed MSRP of $39,980, but the available information does not confirm customer production, deliveries, reservations, or operating dealers.
What is the Bricklin 3EV?
The 3EV is a vehicle Visionary Vehicles describes as a zero-emission, three-wheel electric vehicle with an enclosed two-person cabin and scissor doors. Those are manufacturer-published claims, not independent test results. The company’s 3EV page also lists a touchscreen, heads-up display, heated power seats, premium audio, airbags, stability and traction controls, antilock brakes, regenerative braking, and collision-avoidance technology; it does not provide independent safety-test results for those systems.

Visionary Vehicles lists the vehicle at 183.6 inches long, 80 inches wide excluding mirrors, and a 106.3-inch wheelbase. It claims a range of 275+ miles, but the company page does not identify an independent range test or testing conditions. The figure should therefore be read as a company claim, not a verified real-world range.

Is the Bricklin 3EV in production or available to buy?
Current published information does not establish that customers can order or reserve the 3EV, that production has begun, or that vehicles have been delivered. Visionary Vehicles says the vehicle will be made in the United States and sold and serviced through a dealer network, but its current page does not give a production date, delivery schedule, reservation details, or a list of operating dealers.

New Atlas reported on May 14, 2024, that production timing had not been announced. That report is useful historical context, not confirmation of the vehicle’s status today. The practical distinction is between an announced vehicle and one that is actually available for purchase: the company has published specifications and an MSRP, but the reviewed sources do not show that buyers can complete a transaction.
What price has Visionary Vehicles announced?
Visionary Vehicles’ product page currently lists an MSRP of $39,980. New Atlas’s May 14, 2024 report gave different, dated estimates: a US$28,980 starting price and $38,980 for a faster, longer-range 3EVX version. These figures come from different sources and dates; the 2024 estimates should not be treated as the current company price list or combined with the present MSRP.

How is the 3EV related to the Bricklin SV-1?
The connection is Malcolm Bricklin and the Bricklin name, not a claim that the 3EV is a continuation of the SV-1’s production. The SV-1 was a two-seat sports car unveiled in 1974. New Atlas reports that Bricklin created it through General Vehicles and that production began in New Brunswick in mid-1974, ending less than two years later, mainly because of a lack of financing. Visionary Vehicles’ 2024 press release calls SV-1 “Safety Vehicle One” and credits its design to Herb Grasse.

The 3EV takes a very different form: rather than a conventional two-seat sports car, it is presented as an enclosed electric three-wheeler. In a 2024 interview with New Atlas, Bricklin described the design link this way: “The SV1 is 50 years old but looks like a car that was built in the future. This also applies to his brother the 3EV. When you look at him, you see and feel the future.”
