For 2024, the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, Lexus LX 600 and INFINITI QX80 are the clearest traditional full-size luxury SUV choices in this comparison. The BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS are compelling large-luxury alternatives, but they should not be treated as equivalent to body-on-frame SUVs in construction or utility. There is no single winner for every buyer: the right choice depends on passenger and cargo needs, cabin priorities, driving character and whether off-road ability matters.

“Best” here means a qualitative shortlist based on the vehicles’ roles and documented equipment, not a common road test or a data-backed ranking. Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds offer editorial overviews, but their pages do not establish a uniform set of specifications or a settled consensus. Compare the exact model year, trim and market before choosing a vehicle.
The Escalade, Navigator, LX 600 and QX80 represent the traditional full-size luxury SUV shortlist. The X7 and GLS are large luxury SUVs worth considering, but their inclusion does not mean they share the same dimensions, construction or utility as the body-on-frame candidates.
Traditional full-size luxury SUV candidates
Cadillac Escalade: prioritize a feature-rich luxury cabin
The 2024 Escalade is a strong candidate if you want an expansive luxury-SUV experience and value comfort-focused equipment. Cadillac’s 2024 brochure lists a full-color head-up display and 16-way power front seats with heating, ventilation and massage for Premium Luxury equipment. Confirm the trim and market for the specific vehicle: brochure equipment should not be assumed to apply to every Escalade.

Check the exact model year and trim, and compare the passenger and cargo layout that matters to your household.
Lexus LX 600: a luxury SUV with an off-road emphasis
Lexus Canada described the 2024 LX 600 as its “flagship full-size luxury SUV” and highlighted off-road capability as part of its positioning. That is manufacturer positioning, not an independent performance verdict. It makes the LX worth considering if you want luxury and intend to use the vehicle beyond paved roads; verify the capability and equipment of the particular trim you are shopping.

INFINITI QX80: another traditional full-size option
The QX80 is part of the defensible traditional full-size shortlist, but the sources available here do not supply comparable, verified figures that would justify ranking it above or below the Escalade, Navigator or LX 600. Treat it as a candidate to inspect and test-drive rather than relying on an unsupported class-wide ranking.
Large-luxury alternatives: BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS
The BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS broaden the comparison if you are shopping for a large luxury SUV rather than limiting yourself to traditional full-size, body-on-frame models. Their appearance alongside the shortlist is not proof of equal cargo utility, construction or capability. Choose by the need that matters most
- Passenger and cargo use: Check seating and cargo arrangements on the exact vehicle. If a long-wheelbase version is available for the model and market you are considering, assess whether its added length suits your parking, driving and passenger needs. What the available market figure does—and does not—say
The Canadian Automobile Dealers Association reported 20,389 vehicles in Canada’s Luxury Large Sport Utility category in 2024, down 3.3% from 2023. That category total is not U.S. volume and does not represent sales of the Escalade, Navigator, LX 600 or QX80 individually.

The documented Escalade Premium Luxury features and the LX 600’s manufacturer-stated off-road emphasis offer specific reasons to investigate those models, but the available evidence does not support a definitive overall winner. Before buying, compare the exact trims and verify the figures and equipment that matter to you in the relevant market.
