July 2024 EV offers included a $209-per-month Kia EV6 lease, a $369-per-month Chevrolet Blazer EV lease, and 0% financing on a Ford Mustang Mach-E. These are dated examples, not current offers or a complete national ranking. Their value depends on upfront costs, loan or lease terms, location, inventory, and buyer eligibility.

Representative EV offers reported for July 2024

The examples below illustrate different kinds of deals reported around July 2024. They are not directly equivalent: a lease payment and a purchase APR describe different costs and obligations.

Vehicle and offer Reported terms What to keep in mind
2024 Kia EV6 lease $209 per month for 24 months; $3,870 due CarEdge listed this as an advertised example in its Fourth of July 2024 roundup. It does not establish nationwide availability. CarEdge
Chevrolet Blazer EV lease $369 per month for 24 months; $1,679 due Also listed in CarEdge’s Fourth of July 2024 roundup. Compare the upfront amount as well as the monthly payment. CarEdge
2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E purchase financing 0% APR for 60 months, plus a $750 financing bonus CarsDirect reported this promotion and said the model was not eligible for the $7,500 federal credit on purchases; lease treatment could differ. Confirm applicable terms and eligibility with the dealer or manufacturer. CarsDirect

J.D. Power’s July roundup based its deal research on a Los Angeles-area ZIP code and cautioned that offers varied by model and could change or expire. It is useful as a dated local snapshot, not a guarantee for another ZIP code or buyer. J.D. Power

How to compare a lease payment with a financing offer

Calculate the lease’s real cost

A monthly payment alone can make a lease look cheaper than it is. For an initial comparison, add the due-at-signing amount to all scheduled payments, then account for taxes and fees not already included. For the EV6 example, the scheduled payments total $5,016 over 24 months; adding the reported $3,870 due gives $8,886 before any taxes, fees, or end-of-lease charges not included in those figures. For the Blazer EV, the corresponding sum is $10,536: $8,856 in scheduled payments plus $1,679 due. These arithmetic totals are based only on the advertised figures, not a complete contract quote.

Before comparing lease offers, check the mileage allowance, taxes and fees, what the upfront amount includes, and the contract’s wear, excess-mileage, and return terms. A lower payment may come with a higher amount due at signing or other conditions.

Evaluate financing over the same ownership period

For a purchase offer, compare the APR, loan term, amount financed, dealer discount, and any financing bonus. A 0% APR promotion can reduce borrowing cost for a buyer who qualifies, but its value depends on the vehicle price, term, and any cash incentives that can be combined. Compare the total outlay over a consistent period rather than treating a loan promotion as interchangeable with a lease payment.

Why July 2024 offers differed by buyer and location

Advertised EV incentives could depend on ZIP code, dealer inventory, trim, lender, credit approval, and the buyer’s existing vehicle. J.D. Power notes that promotional financing commonly requires very good or excellent credit and financing through a specified institution; loyalty and conquest cash depend on the buyer’s current vehicle. Its roundup also groups different offer types, including cash, loyalty, conquest, and promotional financing, so an “up to” amount should not be read as a benefit every buyer receives. J.D. Power

For a meaningful comparison, establish the actual offer for the relevant ZIP code and ask which incentives can be combined. Request the complete lease or purchase quote for the specific trim and confirm qualifying credit, lender, inventory, and any loyalty or conquest requirements.

Why leasing was part of the EV deal conversation

In an Associated Press report published May 1, 2024, Edmunds director of insights Ivan Drury said, “If you’re lucky enough to be in the EV market, leasing an EV is really where customers could stand to benefit.” The report connected falling lease prices with lower EV prices, vehicles remaining on dealer lots, and a federal-credit workaround. This was context for the market at that time, not a guarantee that every EV lease was cheaper than buying or that every lessee qualified for the same terms. Associated Press

EV demand was also growing: Electrek reported on July 5, 2024, citing S&P Global Mobility via Automotive News, that EV registrations rose 17% in April 2024 and accounted for 7.3% of light-duty vehicle registrations. Those figures describe April, not July, and do not establish whether a particular local deal was available. Electrek
