The headline-making LaFerrari carrier was a custom Volkner Performance S displayed at the 2022 Düsseldorf Caravan Salon. New Atlas reported a final price of €5,311,000 including taxes for that show configuration—roughly US$5.7 million at the time, not a current conversion—and described it as the most expensive RV it covered in 2022. That is a report about one vehicle, not proof of a global price record.
What did the LaFerrari-carrying RV cost?
New Atlas’s 2022 report broke the displayed vehicle’s price into two large parts:

The same article gave a contemporary estimate of about US$5.7 million for the complete vehicle. That is a historical dollar estimate, not a current exchange-rate conversion. New Atlas’s 2022 report called it the most expensive RV it covered that year; available sources do not establish an exhaustive ranking of every RV displayed or sold worldwide.
How did a LaFerrari fit inside the motorhome?
The show vehicle used the Performance S’s central garage concept to carry the LaFerrari inside the coach. Volkner says it can tailor garage solutions, including a partial garage extension for a LaFerrari. This is a bespoke configuration, not evidence that every Performance S has the same garage dimensions or accommodates the same car.

Volkner describes the garage platform as usable as a terrace when the car is unloaded: “Another practical aspect is the use of the garage platform as a terrace when the car is unloaded.” That general platform feature is separate from the distinct roof deck fitted to the 2022 display vehicle. What was special about the roof deck?
New Atlas reported that this particular show build had a 12.5-square-metre (135-square-foot) roof deck designed for six to eight people. It is not the same feature as the garage platform terrace: the deck is on the roof, while the platform can serve as a terrace once the car is unloaded. The show-vehicle report attributes the roof-deck area and capacity to that configuration.

What equipment and interior did the 2022 show build have?
New Atlas described the displayed coach as a 12 m (39 ft) Volvo-bus-based motorhome with a 503 hp rear engine and air suspension. Its interior was configured as a luxury residence rather than a standard equipment package.
- An L-shaped kitchen counter with bar seating, a three-burner induction cooktop, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and separate 12-bottle wine cooler.
- A front daybed and a rear bed measuring 180 × 200 cm.
- 5.1 surround sound in the living area.
- A 2,000 W solar array and a 20 kWh lithium battery.
These are figures and features reported for the specific display build, not a universal Performance S specification. New Atlas’s vehicle coverage describes the layout and equipment.

How do the current model-page figures compare?
Volkner’s current Performance S page lists the model at 12.00 m long, with solar capacity up to 2,800 Wp and battery capacity up to 50 kWh. Those are manufacturer-listed model-page figures and options; they do not establish that the 2022 show vehicle had those capacities. The 2022 report’s 2,000 W solar array and 20 kWh battery refer specifically to that example.
Volkner presents the Performance S as individually configurable, including custom garage solutions. Buyers should therefore treat a model-page maximum, a particular customer build and a show vehicle’s equipment as distinct things, rather than assuming one fixed specification applies to all units. The manufacturer’s current model page lists its published dimensions and available capacities.

Was it really the most expensive RV of 2022?
New Atlas described this vehicle as the most expensive RV it covered in 2022, based on the reported €5,311,000 tax-included configuration with the LaFerrari. The sources establish the price report and the publication’s characterization, but not a complete global survey of RV prices for that year. The careful conclusion is that it was a standout, multimillion-euro show vehicle—not that a verified worldwide ranking proves it was the costliest RV in every market.
