The 21 vehicles offered from Paul Walker’s collection at Barrett-Jackson’s 2020 Scottsdale auction ranged from BMW M3s and a Nissan Skyline race car to pickups, motorcycles and a Chevrolet wagon. This is an editorial selection, not an official ranking—and it is not a complete inventory of Walker’s cars: MotorTrend reported that his family kept a few as keepsakes.

What makes these 21 vehicles stand out?

“Coolest” depends on what you value. Here, the selection balances unusual specifications, the vehicles’ documented connection to Walker or the Fast & Furious films, and the variety of jobs they were built to do. The auction list below follows MotorTrend’s account of the 21 vehicles offered in Scottsdale in 2020; it includes cars, trucks and motorcycles.

The 21 vehicles in the 2020 auction

No. Vehicle Why it stands out
1 1963 Chevrolet Nova Wagon A practical wagon with a 194-cubic-inch straight-six and a three-speed manual. The auction listing noted bonded-title/title-in-transit status.
2 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Wagon One of two Chevrolet wagons in a collection better known for performance cars.
3 1967 Chevrolet II Nova A second-generation Nova among the collection’s American classics.
4 1988 BMW M3 E30 An earlier-generation M3 that contrasts with the later E36 Lightweights.
5 1989 Nissan R32 Skyline race car A race-oriented project described by MotorTrend with a roll cage, stripped interior, Sparco seat and OS Giken sequential transmission.
6 1991 BMW M3 E30 Coupe A second E30 M3, this one a coupe from 1991.
7 1995 BMW M3 E36 Lightweight One of five Lightweights in the collection; one of the five had the factory LTW wing and race-livery delete.
8 1995 BMW M3 E36 Lightweight A second example in Walker’s five-car Lightweight group.
9 1995 BMW M3 E36 Lightweight A third example in the group.
10 1995 BMW M3 E36 Lightweight A fourth example in the group.
11 1995 BMW M3 E36 Lightweight The fifth example in the group.
12 1995 Ford Bronco SUV A truck-based SUV that broadens the collection beyond sports cars.
13 2000 Audi S4 A European performance sedan among the collection’s newer road cars.
14 2003 Ford F-250 pickup A full-size pickup, part of the collection’s substantial truck contingent.
15 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup A second full-size pickup, this one a Sierra 1500.
16 2005 Harley-Davidson RS motorcycle The first of three motorcycles in the auction list.
17 2006 Toyota Tundra pickup A third pickup, from Toyota.
18 2008 Suzuki motorcycle A second motorcycle in the collection.
19 2009 Nissan 370Z Barrett-Jackson documented this specific car as Walker-owned and used in Fast Five.
20 2011 BMW motorcycle The third motorcycle listed in the auction group.
21 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302S race car A purpose-built competition car, listed as not street legal and sold on a bill of sale only.

Why the BMW M3 Lightweights are the collection’s signature group

Walker had five 1995 BMW M3 E36 Lightweights, in a production run MotorTrend put at 126 cars. The U.S.-market model was associated with competition homologation. MotorTrend describes weight-saving details that included aluminum doors, thinner carpet, cloth seats and carbon-fiber interior trim, along with comfort equipment removed to reduce weight.

Brandon Birtell, identified by MotorTrend as Walker’s friend and production partner, said Walker prized the special models and was proud to have assembled five. Birtell recalled: “He thought they were really special, and he knew they were going to go up in value.” That remark is Birtell’s account of Walker’s enthusiasm, not a statement by Walker.

#1 Best Overall

The two E30 M3s—a 1988 example and a 1991 coupe—add an earlier-generation counterpoint. Together, the E30s and the five E36 Lightweights make BMW performance cars the most conspicuous thread in the auctioned group.

The race cars: a Skyline project and a track-only Mustang

1989 Nissan R32 Skyline race car

MotorTrend described the Skyline as a caged, gutted project with a Sparco seat and an OS Giken sequential transmission. Those details are a snapshot of its condition as reported at the time, not a claim about its present state.

2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302S

The Boss 302S was built for racing rather than ordinary road use. Barrett-Jackson’s listing described it as nearly new and never raced, but also stated that it was not street legal and would be sold on a bill of sale only. That paperwork and road-use restriction matter as much as its racing equipment to anyone assessing what kind of car it was.

The Fast & Furious connection: the 370Z and a separate Supra

2009 Nissan 370Z: Walker-owned and used in Fast Five

Barrett-Jackson’s 2020 listing identified this particular 370Z as owned by Walker and used in Fast Five. The listing specified a 3.7-liter V6 rated at 332 hp, a six-speed manual and 3,092 actual miles at the time of sale. Those are auction-record details for this car, not figures for every 370Z or a statement of its current mileage.

1994 Toyota Supra: a film car, but not one of the 21

A separate Barrett-Jackson record documents a 1994 Supra used in The Fast and the Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious. The car was built by Eddie Paul at The Shark Shop and later modified for the sequel; its listing describes a turbocharged 2JZ-GTE and a four-speed automatic, as well as documentation and a certificate of authenticity. It was sold at Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas auction in 2021, so it should not be counted among the 21 vehicles offered in Scottsdale in 2020.

The collection beyond sports cars

The Chevy wagons, three pickups, Bronco and motorcycles make the auction list a more varied snapshot than a sports-car-only inventory would suggest. The 1963 Nova Wagon is especially revealing: its 194-cubic-inch straight-six and three-speed manual point to a practical, modestly specified vehicle rather than an exotic performance machine. Its auction listing also noted bonded-title/title-in-transit status, an important qualification about its paperwork.

MotorTrend quoted Birtell saying Walker mostly drove trucks as daily drivers and that the cars had a use and purpose. Birtell also said, “If a car was too fancy, he was embarrassed.” That perspective helps explain why the list’s pickups and utility vehicles belong in the story alongside its race cars and M3s.

Was there one rarest car?

The available records support several different kinds of distinction, not a single definitive “rarest” title. MotorTrend’s figure of 126 produced makes the 1995 M3 Lightweight group notable for its limited production, while the 370Z has a specifically documented Walker and film connection. The R32 and Boss 302S stand out for race purpose. Without a consistent rarity comparison across all 21 vehicles, naming one as the rarest would overstate what these records establish.
