The package details change by model year, though, and STX has described different kinds of Ranger offerings over time. A badge alone cannot confirm a used truck’s original equipment.
What does STX mean on a Ford Ranger?
For the 2026 U.S. Ranger XL, Ford identifies STX as the STX Appearance Package. Ford’s 2026 Ranger XL page says the package comes standard and describes an STX fender badge and 17-inch black-painted steel wheels.
That is a model-year-specific description, not a definition that applies to every Ranger. Ford has used STX for a series, a special-edition package, and an appearance package in the sources cited here. The sources do not establish a single expanded phrase for the letters “STX,” so it is more accurate to use Ford’s name for the offering in the truck’s particular model year.
Is STX a trim or a package?
It depends on the model year. Ford’s historical descriptions show why the label should not be treated as a consistent trim designation.

What comes with the Ranger STX package?
Use the equipment list for the truck’s exact model year. Even the wheel type changes in Ford’s recent descriptions: the 2025 order guide lists 17-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels, while the 2026 XL page names 17-inch black-painted steel wheels. Treating one year’s list as universal can lead to a mistaken identification.
The sources characterize the cited 2025 and 2026 offerings as appearance packages. They do not establish that STX is inherently an off-road or performance package.

Is a Ranger STX 4×4?
The STX label alone does not establish whether a Ranger is four-wheel drive. Check the model year and the truck’s specific configuration and factory equipment records; the package descriptions cited here do not support inferring drivetrain from the STX name or badge.
How can you tell if a used Ranger is an STX?
Use the vehicle’s model year and equipment records rather than relying on exterior appearance alone. Ford’s 2005, 2021, 2025, and 2026 descriptions refer to distinct offerings, and a badge or wheel style does not prove a particular used truck left the factory with a given package.

- Check vehicle-specific factory equipment records to verify the package on that individual truck.
- Compare its cab, drivetrain, and configuration separately; do not assume the STX designation answers those questions.
Are Ranger accessories part of the STX package?
Not necessarily. Ford lists items such as spray-in and modular drop-in bedliners, tonneau covers, cargo-management rails, and a pickup-box extender among accessories for the 2026 Ranger XL. These are separate accessory choices, not proof of STX package equipment. Check fitment for the truck’s model year, bed, and configuration before buying.
