The 2026 Mazda CX-90 3.3 Turbo Select starts at $39,300 in U.S. MSRP and includes Mazda’s i-Activ AWD. That makes it an unusual entry point among three-row SUVs: the starting configuration has AWD without crossing $40,000 in sticker price. It is not under $40,000 after destination, however, and the available manufacturer data supports a qualified comparison—not an exhaustive claim that no other new three-row SUV can meet the same criteria.
What the $39,300 CX-90 price includes—and excludes
Mazda lists the 2026 CX-90 3.3 Turbo Select at a $39,300 starting MSRP. The Select’s standard equipment includes i-Activ AWD, a 280-hp 3.3-liter turbocharged inline-six, and three-row seating for up to eight. Mazda’s 2026 CX-90 model page is the source for the trim and equipment details.
The price is a starting MSRP, not an out-the-door figure. Mazda’s current page lists a $1,530 destination charge, or $1,575 for Alaska; its 2026 pricing release search result also surfaced a $1,645 destination charge effective August 11. Because the applicable destination amount should be confirmed with the dealer or current pricing materials, the safe comparison is $39,300 before destination and other fees. Either listed fee puts the CX-90’s base above $40,000 before taxes, title, license, or options.
How the CX-90 compares with other three-row SUVs
The important distinction is whether AWD comes on the least expensive configuration, not whether the model line offers an AWD version below a certain price. Kia’s 2026 Sorento pricing table lists the S 2.5L GDI AWD at $37,290, but the less expensive LX is front-wheel drive. Kia describes AWD as available, so the Sorento is an example of an AWD trim under $40,000—not a nameplate whose entry trim includes AWD. See Kia’s 2026 pricing table.

Hyundai lists the 2026 Santa Fe as a three-row SUV with a $35,050 starting MSRP and AWD trims. The reviewed Hyundai Santa Fe page does not establish standard AWD on its least expensive trim, so its starting price alone does not answer the same question.
These examples explain why the claim is best framed narrowly: the CX-90’s entry trim pairs three rows and standard AWD with a sub-$40,000 starting MSRP. The available official sources do not establish a complete census of every new U.S. three-row SUV, and an AWD trim’s price is not the same as the price of a model’s entry configuration.

Does the CX-90 seat eight, and how much cargo space is there?
Mazda’s inline-six CX-90 seating configuration depends on the second row: a bench allows seating for up to eight, while optional captain’s chairs reduce capacity to seven. The third row is a three-person bench. Mazda lists 14.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind all three rows and up to 74.2 cubic feet with the second- and third-row seatbacks folded. Those figures are from the 2026 CX-90 specifications.

What to verify before comparing prices
- Match model years and trims. Compare the 2026 CX-90 3.3 Turbo Select with the exact 2026 trim of another vehicle, rather than comparing a nameplate’s starting price with a higher AWD trim.
- Check what “starting price” means. The Mazda figure is MSRP before destination, options, taxes, title, and license fees; it is not a delivered price.
- Confirm AWD on the entry trim. A model may offer AWD on some versions while its least expensive trim is FWD, as Kia’s 2026 Sorento lineup illustrates.
- Compare the layout you need. CX-90 capacity is seven or eight depending on the second-row configuration, and its cargo figure changes substantially when seats are folded.
