Mazda has not announced the concept as a production car.
What is the Mazda Vision X-Coupe?
Mazda describes the VISION X-COUPE as a crossover coupe and a vision model. It was one of two vision models presented at the Japan Mobility Show 2025; the company announced the world premiere on October 29, 2025. The announcement is about a concept, not a retail vehicle or confirmed production program. Mazda’s announcement identifies its configuration and specifications.
The concept measures 5,050 mm long, 1,995 mm wide and 1,480 mm high, with a 3,080 mm wheelbase, according to Mazda’s published specifications. These figures describe the show concept.
What powertrain and range did Mazda announce?
The VISION X-COUPE uses a plug-in hybrid system combining a two-rotor rotary turbo engine, an electric motor and a battery. Mazda announced a maximum output of 510 PS, a motor-only range of 160 km, and an operating range of up to 800 km when using the engine. These are Mazda’s concept specifications; the announcement does not establish independently tested or real-world performance.

The two range figures describe different operating modes: 160 km is the announced motor-only distance, while up to 800 km is the distance Mazda says the concept can cover when operating with the engine. They should not be read as equivalent electric-only ranges or as independently verified consumer estimates.
What does Mazda mean by evolved Kodo design?
Mazda presents the VISION X-COUPE as a further evolution of Kodo—Soul of Motion. Its design article frames the next phase around “heritage and evolution,” also using the term “Neo-Authentic,” and says the concept carries the brand’s “less is more” philosophy toward a fuller expression. Mazda calls the design approach “Solid Move”: the structure’s movement and strength are intended to shape the way light travels across the car’s form. These phrases explain Mazda’s own design intent, rather than an independent assessment. Mazda’s design discussion attributes the work to Ikuo Maeda, Executive Fellow of Brand Design, who directed the two vision models, alongside Norihito Iwao, General Manager and Chief Designer of the Advance Design Studio, and Eiji Kimoto, General Manager of the Design Division.

How does Mazda connect the concept to sustainability?
Mazda says the VISION X-COUPE combines carbon-neutral fuel derived from microalgae with its “Mazda Mobile Carbon Capture” technology. The company describes the concept as contributing to a reduction in atmospheric CO₂ the more it is driven. That is Mazda’s stated concept rationale; the announcement does not provide independent measurements or test results verifying the claimed effect.
In the October 29, 2025 announcement, Mazda Representative Director, President and CEO Masahiro Moro said: “The phrase, ‘The joy of driving fuels a sustainable tomorrow,’ expresses not only Mazda’s fundamental spirit, but also the core of its future challenges.”
