The phrase “coming in 2024” is now a historical label. Some of these EVs reached customers on schedule, some arrived only in selected countries, one changed its name, and several remain unconfirmed as production vehicles. The biggest trap is treating a global launch as a US launch: the European Ford Explorer EV, China-market Xiaomi SU7, and Kia EV3 do not share the same availability story for American buyers.
Here is what happened to all 18 vehicles, with range and pricing claims kept in their original market and test cycle where possible. WLTP, CLTC, and EPA figures should not be compared as if they were measured under the same conditions.

The 18 EVs, updated
1. Kia EV3
The EV3 became a real production vehicle, but not on the original US timetable. Kia revealed it on May 23, 2024, quoting up to 600 km of claimed range and 10-to-80-percent charging in 31 minutes. Those are market-specific figures, not US EPA ratings.
Kia’s US site now identifies the vehicle as the 2027 Kia EV3. It made its North American debut at the New York International Auto Show on April 1, 2026. For US shoppers, this is a future model-year vehicle rather than an EV that arrived in American showrooms during 2024.
#1 Best Overall
- Flex Level 1 EV Charger - The EVDANCE Level 1 electric car charger is compatible with J1772 electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles (North American Standard). *Tesla requires a SAE J1772 adapter.
- Convenient to Use - This charger has both NEMA 6-20 plug for 16A 240V charging (3.68kW, 10-12 mi/h) and a NEMA 6-20 to 5-15 plug adapter for 12A 120V charging (1.44kW, 2-5 mi/h). The included bag makes it easier to carry on the go. It also has a 25ft cable length, you can use it flexibly from anywhere in the garage or driveway.
- Check Your Outlet Type -This charger works with standard 120V NEMA 5-15/5-20 outlets (2-5 mph charging speed) and 240V NEMA 6-20 outlets (10-12 mph) . It's not compatible with NEMA 6-15/10-30/14-30/14-50/6-50 outlets – you'll need a NEMA 14-50/14-30/10-30/6-50 to 6-20 adapter (sold separately) to connect.

2. Hyundai Ioniq 5 N
This was one of the more accurate predictions on the original list. The Ioniq 5 N launched in the US as a 2025 model, turning the regular Ioniq 5 into a 601-hp performance car, or 641 hp when N Grin Boost is engaged.
Hyundai lists a starting price of $66,200 and an EPA-rated range of 221 miles. Availability is restricted to select dealers and states, so a buyer may need to search beyond their local Hyundai retailer. The current US figures are more useful than early global power and range claims.
3. Hyundai Ioniq 7 — now Ioniq 9
The three-row Hyundai EV did not reach production under the Ioniq 7 name. Hyundai unveiled the production IONIQ 9 on November 20, 2024. The earlier Ioniq 7 name belongs to the concept and the speculation surrounding it.
That name change matters when searching for inventory, reviews, specifications, and recall information. A production-vehicle article should call it the Ioniq 9, not the Ioniq 7.
4. Range Rover Electric
Range Rover’s first electric model was not a 2024 production launch. JLR’s later corporate reporting placed its launch in the second half of fiscal year 2026/27, with final launch planning still underway in the company’s 2026 annual report.
Demand appears substantial: JLR reported a waiting list of 76,976 people. That figure is a reservation or interest-list measure, not proof that those customers had received vehicles. The Range Rover Electric belongs in the delayed category.
5. Ford Explorer EV
The Ford Explorer EV did launch, but it is a European vehicle built at Ford’s Cologne EV Center in Germany. It is not the same product as the larger gasoline-powered Ford Explorer sold in the United States.

That headline number should not be treated as a US EPA estimate. American buyers should also avoid assuming that the European Explorer EV will be added to the US Ford lineup.

6. Polestar 4
Polestar 4 moved from preview to production. Customer deliveries began in China and Europe in 2024, while Polestar planned South Korean production for wider export markets. US customer deliveries began later, so describing it as merely “coming” is no longer accurate.
The important distinction is timing: a vehicle can be in production and available in Europe while still waiting for US homologation, shipping, and retail delivery. Check local Polestar inventory rather than relying on the original 2024 launch wording.
7. Porsche Macan Electric
The electric Macan launched on schedule and entered customer hands in 2024. Porsche reported 18,278 all-electric Macans delivered worldwide by the end of that year.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
US launch pricing was $78,800 for the Macan 4 and $105,300 for the Macan Turbo, before the $1,650 delivery fee. It is a premium electric SUV rather than an inexpensive alternative to the gas Macan, and equipment, options, and destination charges can push the transaction price significantly higher.
8. Audi Q6 e-tron
Audi launched the Q6 e-tron in the third quarter of 2024. The company reported 14,991 Q6 e-tron deliveries during the year, confirming that it progressed beyond a concept or announcement.
As with the Macan Electric, availability and specifications depend on the country. The Q6 e-tron should now be discussed as a launched model, not as an upcoming 2024 EV.
9. Nimbus One
The Nimbus One remains an unconfirmed startup vehicle rather than a delivered 2024 production EV. The original proposal described a three-wheeled enclosed vehicle and a target price below $10,000, but those were company projections, not established retail specifications.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThere is no basis for saying that the Nimbus One entered ordinary customer production in 2024. - Universal J1772 Compatibility: Designed with a standard J1772 connector, this J1772 charger works with most J1772 electric vehicles and PHEVs, including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Rivian, Ford, Chevy, Volkswagen, Toyota and more. Note: Tesla vehicles require a J1772 to Tesla adapter (not included)
- Flexible Outlet Compatibility: This portable EV charger comes with a NEMA 6-20 plug and a NEMA 5-15/5-20 to 6-20 adapter. Supports Level 1 (8–12A) and Level 2 (16A). - Adjustable Smart Charging Control: Customize charging safely with adjustable current settings (8A/10A/12A/16A) to match different circuits. The 0–12 hour delay timer helps schedule overnight charging during lower electricity rates. Integrated LCD display shows real-time voltage, current, power, and charging status for clear monitoring without apps. Note: Press 'A' or 'T' for 3s to set and confirm.
- Home Charging & Travel Backup: For daily home use while remaining fully portable for travel. 10. BMW i4
The BMW i4 did not become a new EV generation in 2024. Instead, BMW introduced its planned refresh for the 2025 model year, including updated exterior and interior details.
Later updates brought silicon-carbide power electronics, efficiency improvements, and the i4 M60 xDrive performance variant. The original expectation that BMW would improve the i4 was directionally right, but calling the refresh a ground-up replacement would be wrong. It remains an updated version of the existing i4.
11. Lotus Emeya
The Lotus Emeya reached customers in 2024. Lotus reported that deliveries began in China in March before expanding to other markets.
That makes the Emeya another vehicle that graduated from preview coverage to a production car. Buyers still need to check their market, since a global launch does not guarantee local inventory, service coverage, or the same motor and battery specifications.
12. BYD Seal U
The BYD Seal U launched in Europe as a battery-electric SUV, with European deliveries announced from February 2024. The naming becomes more complicated in the UK, where BYD also introduced the Seal U DM-i.
The DM-i is a plug-in hybrid, not a battery-electric vehicle. Therefore, “Seal U” cannot automatically be used as shorthand for a fully electric model in every European market. Check the badge and powertrain: Seal U EV and Seal U DM-i are different vehicles in the way they use fuel and electricity.
13. Volvo EX30
The EX30 launched in several markets, but US deliveries did not follow the original schedule cleanly. Volvo began fulfilling US preorder reservations in late 2024, while the model was already established elsewhere.

14. Li Auto Mega
Li Auto delivered the MEGA in China during 2024. It is a large, distinctive electric MPV designed primarily for the Chinese market.
The original expectation that exports would not arrive until at least 2025 was appropriately cautious. Nothing in the 2024 delivery data supports calling the MEGA a US or broadly available European vehicle. It should be treated as a China-market launch unless a specific export market has an official sales announcement.
15. Luxeed S7
The Luxeed S7 launched as a China-market electric sedan from the Huawei–Chery partnership. Current corporate filings list the S7 among Luxeed’s China models.
Earlier suggestions that it might soon reach export markets were speculative. There should be no claim of US availability without an official announcement covering that market, including local certification and sales channels.
16. Xiaomi SU7
Xiaomi launched the SU7 in China on March 28, 2024, began deliveries in April, and said it would keep its automotive business focused on China for its first three years.
That makes the SU7 a genuine production EV, but not one normally available for purchase in the United States or Europe. Chinese CLTC range figures also should not be converted directly into EPA estimates. The test cycles measure range differently, so a large-looking CLTC number is not an apples-to-apples comparison with a US-market EV.
17. XPeng G6
The XPeng G6 reached additional European markets, including Spain and Portugal, in September 2024. However, the later redesigned G6 followed a different schedule: XPeng’s subsequent European order-book announcement specified deliveries beginning in late summer 2025.

18. JiYue ROBO-02
The ROBO-02 should remain in the planned or speculative category. The original coverage used forward-looking language but did not establish a confirmed production date, homologation program, or customer-delivery schedule.
It may represent an intended China-market model, but a concept announcement is not the same as a vehicle that a customer can order. Do not list it as a confirmed 2024 production EV without a current official launch source.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the original list gets wrong if read today
- “Coming in 2024” is not the same as “available in the US in 2024.” The Ford Explorer EV was European, the Xiaomi SU7 was China-focused, and the Kia EV3 is identified for the US as a 2027 model.
- Range numbers need a test cycle. EPA, WLTP, and CLTC results are not interchangeable. A manufacturer’s claimed 600 km or 900 km figure needs its market and test standard attached.
- Concept names are not always production names. The Ioniq 7 became the IONIQ 9.
- Powertrain badges matter. The European Seal U is electric, while the UK Seal U DM-i is a plug-in hybrid.
- A refresh is not a new generation. The BMW i4 received a 2025 update, not a clean-sheet replacement.
FAQ
Which EVs on the list actually launched in 2024?
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, Porsche Macan Electric, Audi Q6 e-tron, Lotus Emeya, BYD Seal U EV, Xiaomi SU7, Li Auto Mega, Luxeed S7, and versions of the Polestar 4 and XPeng G6 reached production or customer markets during 2024. Availability varied widely by country.
Recommended Free Tools
Was the Ford Explorer EV sold in the United States?
No. The 2024 Ford Explorer EV was a compact European electric SUV built in Germany. It is separate from the larger gasoline-powered Ford Explorer sold in the US.
What happened to the Hyundai Ioniq 7?
The production three-row EV was renamed the IONIQ 9. Hyundai unveiled the production model on November 20, 2024.
Which vehicles from the list were not confirmed production EVs?
The Nimbus One and JiYue ROBO-02 should not be presented as confirmed 2024 production vehicles. Their projected specifications or plans did not establish ordinary customer production and delivery.
The Bottom Line
The 2024 EV wave was real, but it was not one uniform global launch. Porsche’s electric Macan, Audi’s Q6 e-tron, Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N, Lotus’s Emeya, and several China-market models became production vehicles. The Ioniq 7 changed into the Ioniq 9, BMW refreshed rather than replaced the i4, and the Range Rover Electric moved well beyond 2024. For US buyers, market-specific availability matters more than the original headline: several of the most interesting vehicles were never US cars in that timeframe.
