The phrase “coming in 2025” now needs a correction. The original list was published on January 1, 2025, as a forecast of interesting electric vehicles. Looking back from August 2026, the 17 entries split into several very different groups: vehicles that launched, vehicles delayed into 2026 or later, concepts and rumors, and one project that disappeared entirely.
This is therefore a fact-checked version of the list—not a current shopping ranking. “Best” was an editorial judgment, not the result of a comparative road test, and the list included an electric motorcycle alongside passenger cars.

What actually happened to the 17 EVs?
The table below gives the most useful answer for anyone revisiting the 2025 predictions.
| Vehicle | 2025 result | Verified status |
|---|---|---|
| Renault 5 Turbo 3E | Delayed | First deliveries are scheduled for 2027, with production limited to 1,980 numbered cars. |
| Range Rover Electric | Delayed | Still in development and testing during 2025; shown in production specification ahead of a 2026 reveal. |
| Audi A6 e-tron | Launched | Delivered globally in 2025, although U.S. model-year and arrival timing differ from the original forecast. |
| BMW iX3 | Delayed for U.S. buyers | Series production began in late 2025; U.S. production was planned for Q1 2026, with deliveries expected in mid-2026. |
| Hyundai Ioniq 9 | Launched as a 2026 model | U.S. pricing began at $60,555 including destination for the rear-wheel-drive S, with a 335-mile EPA-estimated range. |
| Jaguar Type 00 | Concept only | Not a production car. Jaguar’s first new-generation production EV remained forthcoming. |
| GMC Sierra EV Denali | Launched | Available for the 2025 model year. Extended Range was rated at 390 miles by the EPA; Max Range was given a 460-mile GM estimate. |
| Zero XB | Launched | An electric motorcycle, not a car. The current listed MSRP is $4,395. |
| AC Ace Classic Electric | Unconfirmed | Still described as in development in 2025. Claimed delivery timing and specifications were not substantiated. |
| Canoo Pickup Truck | Cancelled | Canoo and related subsidiaries filed for Chapter 7 liquidation on January 17, 2025. |
| Ferrari’s first EV | Delayed beyond the forecast | Ferrari revealed the production-ready chassis and components in October 2025. Later company material refers to the car as the Ferrari Luce. |
| Xiaomi YU7 | Launched in China | Released June 26, 2025, in three versions starting at RMB 253,500. No U.S. launch should be assumed. |
| Lucid Gravity Grand Touring | Launched | Entered production and customer deliveries in 2025 as Lucid ramped up the SUV. |
| Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology | Launched | A real 2025 model-year electric G-Class, officially listed in the U.S. under this full name. |
| Polestar 5 | Delayed | Production began in January 2026, with customer deliveries expected from summer 2026. |
| Porsche Boxster EV | Not a 2025 launch | The electric Boxster did not arrive as predicted, and the earlier $80,000 estimate was not an official price. |
| Tesla Model Q | Unconfirmed name and rumor | Tesla discussed an affordable model but never confirmed “Model Q” as its name or confirmed the rumored price. |
The EVs that really reached the market
Audi A6 e-tron
The A6 e-tron was one of the successful predictions, but the original February timing should not be treated as a universal U.S. on-sale date. Audi reported roughly 37,000 global A6 e-tron deliveries in 2025. Audi USA identifies the A6 Sportback e-tron as a 2026/2027 model-year vehicle, so availability depends heavily on market and body style.

- 2 Modes of Operation: There are two ways to operate the 12V electric stroller, which can be operated by the child himself by manipulating the steering wheel and foot pedal. If the child can not drive, the parents can control the direction and speed by remote control
- 3-Speed & Smooth Start: The remote control provides 3-speed adjustment and manual operation provides 2-speed adjustment to ensure the safety of children, while equipped with a smooth start design to ensure the safety of your kids. The maximum speed can reach 3Mph
- Realistic Experience: The power wheel car comes with bright headlights and realistic taillights that look like real models, built-in music, voltage display, USB and AUX connectors, volume control, TF card slot and speakers, along with a widened seat and adjustable seat belt design to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for children
- Rechargeable & Durable: The battery type is 12V, the time required for charging is 8-12 hours, and it can run for 1-2 hours when fully charged, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use
- Age and Weight Capacity: This children's car has a maximum weight capacity of 55Lbs, suitable for children from 3 to 5 years old, with excellent reliability of use
That distinction matters when comparing launch claims. A vehicle can be delivered in one region during a calendar year while appearing under a later model year in the United States.
GMC Sierra EV Denali
The electric Sierra Denali did become a 2025 model-year vehicle. GMC listed 390 miles of EPA-estimated range for the Extended Range version. The Max Range version was advertised with a 460-mile GM estimate and a starting price of $100,495 including destination.
Those two range figures are not equivalent: 390 miles is an EPA estimate, while 460 miles is a manufacturer estimate. Buyers should not compare them as though they came from the same test.

Hyundai Ioniq 9
Hyundai’s large three-row electric SUV arrived as a 2026 model rather than a 2025 vehicle. U.S. pricing announced in May 2025 put the rear-wheel-drive Ioniq 9 S at $60,555 including destination. Its EPA-estimated range was 335 miles, and U.S.-market examples were assembled in Georgia.
It was close enough to the original forecast to explain its appearance on the list, but calling it a 2025 model would be inaccurate.
Lucid Gravity Grand Touring
Lucid’s Gravity did enter production and customer deliveries in 2025. The Grand Touring was the first version to establish the model, while the broader trim rollout should be checked against current availability rather than relying on the earlier prediction that a base Touring model would arrive in the second half of 2025.

Lucid reported 15,841 total vehicle deliveries across its lineup in 2025 and said it had ramped Gravity production. That confirms the SUV was no longer merely a show-car promise.
Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology
The electric G-Class also made the transition from announcement to production. Mercedes-Benz USA’s official name is the G 580 with EQ Technology SUV. It is a genuine 2025 model-year vehicle, although calling it simply the “G-Class G580” leaves out the name used in the U.S. market.
Xiaomi YU7
The Xiaomi YU7 launched in China on June 26, 2025. The company announced three versions, with pricing starting at RMB 253,500. This is a China-market launch; there is no basis for presenting the YU7 as a U.S.-bound EV or assigning it a U.S. price.
Zero XB
The Zero XB was available in summer 2025, but it is a compact electric motorcycle rather than a passenger vehicle. Its current listed MSRP is $4,395. The removable battery can be charged from a household outlet, with Zero quoting roughly 2.5 hours for a 0–95 percent charge.
The vehicles that slipped beyond 2025
BMW iX3
The iX3 became the first production vehicle based on BMW’s Neue Klasse technology, but the timing was too optimistic for American shoppers. BMW began series production in late 2025, while its U.S. plans called for production in Q1 2026 and customer deliveries in mid-2026.

Range Rover Electric
The Range Rover Electric was still a prototype undergoing testing in April 2025. By July 2026, JLR was showing the vehicle in production specification ahead of a full reveal later that year. It was not a 2025 launch, despite the earlier expectation.
Renault 5 Turbo 3E
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E is one of the most dramatic entries, but also one of the clearest delays. Renault now lists first deliveries for 2027. Production will be limited to 1,980 individually numbered cars, making it a highly restricted performance EV rather than a normal-volume 2025 model.
Ferrari Luce
Ferrari did not unveil a finished production EV in 2025. On October 9, 2025, it showed the production-ready chassis and key components of its first fully electric model and began a staged launch process. Later Ferrari material refers to the car as the Ferrari Luce.

That was meaningful progress, but it was not the same thing as delivering a production Ferrari EV to customers during 2025.
Polestar 5
The Polestar 5 was another high-profile delay. Polestar’s 2025 sustainability report moved production to 2026. Later filings said production began in January 2026, with customer deliveries expected from summer 2026.
Porsche Boxster EV
The electric Boxster did not arrive in 2025. Porsche’s current official communications focus on the 2026 Cayenne Electric and do not identify an electric Boxster as a 2025 launch. The earlier $80,000 figure should therefore be treated as an estimate, not an official price.

Concepts, rumors, and projects that never made it
Jaguar Type 00
The Type 00 is a design concept, not the production Jaguar EV. Jaguar said its eventual production car would be a four-door GT revealed later, but the concept itself should not be counted as a 2025 production vehicle. JLR’s 2026 material still described the first new-generation Jaguar as forthcoming.

AC Ace Classic Electric
AC Cars had not substantiated the earlier claim of spring 2025 deliveries. Its 2025 newsletter still described the electric Ace as being in development. That means its projected price, range, delivery date, and production status should all be regarded as unconfirmed rather than published specifications.
Tesla “Model Q”
“Model Q” was never confirmed by Tesla as an official model name. Tesla’s own 2025 update referred to an affordable model planned for initial production in the first half of 2025, but did not name it Model Q or confirm the rumored price.
The sensible way to describe it is as an unconfirmed media nickname for a rumored affordable Tesla—not as a launched vehicle.
Canoo Pickup Truck
The Canoo pickup prediction failed completely. Canoo and related subsidiaries filed for Chapter 7 liquidation on January 17, 2025. The pickup should be marked cancelled and not brought to market by Canoo, rather than described as delayed.

- Separate calendar year from model year. A vehicle delivered during 2025 may be sold as a 2026 model in the U.S.
- Check the market. A Chinese launch, such as the Xiaomi YU7, does not establish North American availability.
- Distinguish EPA figures from company estimates. The Sierra EV’s 390-mile EPA estimate and 460-mile GM estimate are different types of claim.
- Do not treat concepts as production cars. The Jaguar Type 00 represented design direction, not a customer-delivery date.
- Look for a price list and delivery evidence. A prototype, press release, or rumored name is not proof that a vehicle reached dealers.
FAQ
Which EVs from the list actually launched in 2025?
The Audi A6 e-tron, GMC Sierra EV Denali, Lucid Gravity Grand Touring, Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology, and China-market Xiaomi YU7 reached production or customer deliveries in 2025. The Zero XB also became available, but it is an electric motorcycle. The Hyundai Ioniq 9 arrived as a 2026 model.

Was the Tesla Model Q real?
Tesla discussed an affordable model in 2025, but it never confirmed Model Q as the official name. The name and rumored price should be treated as unconfirmed, not as specifications for a launched car.
What happened to the Canoo electric pickup?
It was cancelled. Canoo and related subsidiaries filed for Chapter 7 liquidation on January 17, 2025, so the pickup was not brought to market by the company.
Which vehicle on the list has the longest claimed range?
The GMC Sierra EV Max Range was given a 460-mile GM estimate, while the Extended Range version had a 390-mile EPA estimate. The 460-mile figure is not an EPA result, so it should not be compared directly with EPA-rated vehicles.
The Bottom Line
The 2025 EV forecast was a useful snapshot of industry ambition, but it is not a reliable current buying guide. The Sierra EV, A6 e-tron, Gravity, electric G-Class, and YU7 reached customers in some form; the Ioniq 9 followed as a 2026 model; and several headline cars moved to 2026, 2027, or an unspecified date. The Canoo pickup was cancelled, Jaguar Type 00 remained a concept, and “Tesla Model Q” remained an unconfirmed nickname.
Before treating any future EV list as a shopping shortlist, verify three things: the vehicle’s actual model year, your market’s delivery status, and whether its range and price are official figures or manufacturer forecasts.
