This ranking weighs competition significance, rarity, engineering distinction and personal meaning—not whether a car is still in his garage. Several entries are documented as former collection cars, while Porsche confirmed that Seinfeld took possession of the 911 Classic Club Coupe in 2023.
How the ranking works—and what “owned” means
“Coolest” is subjective, so the order favors cars with an especially compelling combination of racing credentials, rarity, unusual engineering or a meaningful connection to Seinfeld. Ownership is historical unless a source establishes otherwise. Gooding & Company’s 2016 auction announcement documents cars offered from his collection at that time; it does not establish his present-day inventory. Rennlist and RM Sotheby’s provide reporting on other former cars, while Porsche confirms the later Club Coupe acquisition.
Gooding said its 2016 sale group comprised 18 vehicles from Seinfeld’s collection: 16 Porsches and two Volkswagens. That count describes the auction group, not the size of his entire collection.
The 10 coolest Porsches
1. 1973 Porsche 917/30 Can-Am Spyder
The 917/30 is the most compelling opening choice for a list that puts competition machinery first. Its open Can-Am format and place among the cars offered from Seinfeld’s collection in 2016 give it both racing character and documented collection provenance. Gooding listed it in that sale group, and Rennlist also selected it as a standout. Those sources establish former collection membership, not current ownership.

2. 1959 Porsche 718 RSK
The 718 RSK brings a different kind of racing presence to the ranking: a compact, open sports-racing Porsche from an earlier era than the 917/30. Its documented place in the 2016 collection offering makes it one of the strongest choices on both character and provenance. Gooding listed it among the cars offered, and Rennlist included it among Seinfeld’s notable Porsches.

3. 1990 Porsche 962C
The 962C earns its spot as a purpose-built endurance-racing car among a collection better known to many readers for road-going 911s. Rennlist identifies it as one of Seinfeld’s notable former cars. The available reporting supports that historical ownership claim, but not a more detailed race record or current ownership status.

4. 2000 Porsche Carrera GT prototype
The word prototype matters: this is not simply a production Carrera GT. Gooding listed a Carrera GT prototype in the 2016 collection offering, and Rennlist singled out the prototype in its selection. That combination of developmental rarity and documented former collection membership puts it high on the list.

5. 911 Classic Club Coupe
This one-off Sonderwunsch project is the clearest example here of a Porsche created around a specific owner rather than simply collected. Porsche reported that Seinfeld took possession in 2023. The car is based on a 1998 911 Carrera from the 996 generation, but uses the chassis, brakes and engine from a 996.2-generation 911 GT3.

6. 1986 Porsche 959
The 959 stands out as a technically ambitious road car, and its reported place in Seinfeld’s former collection adds the personal-collection angle. Rennlist includes the 1986 model among his standout Porsches. Because that ownership detail is secondary-source reporting, it is best treated as a documented former car rather than evidence of what he owns now.

7. 1970 Porsche 911S “Henri”
“Henri” makes the list less about race-car spectacle and more about the appeal of a particular 911. Rennlist names the 1970 911S among Seinfeld’s coolest former Porsches. The nickname gives this entry an individual identity, but the available reporting does not establish a fuller ownership timeline.

8. 1994 Porsche 911 Speedster
This Speedster’s appeal lies in its unusual factory-ordered specification and documented modifications. RM Sotheby’s describes it as owned by Seinfeld and notes work by Andial, a Porsche specialist. The auction listing supports past ownership; it does not establish that Seinfeld still has the car.

9. 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder
The 550 Spyder is one of the most evocative early Porsche sports racers, and Gooding included a 1955 example among the cars offered from Seinfeld’s collection in 2016. Its place here rests on the model’s competition-oriented character and the documented auction provenance; the sale announcement does not make it a current-ownership claim.

10. 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 IROC RSR
This 911 stands out because it connects the familiar shape of a road-going Porsche with the more specialized world of competition cars. Gooding listed a 1974 911 Carrera 3.0 IROC RSR among the Porsches offered from Seinfeld’s collection in 2016. That is strong evidence for its place in the former collection, but not for ownership today.

His personal favorite does not have to match this ranking. In a 2018 Porsche interview, Seinfeld named the 1970 Targa Florio-winning Porsche 908/03, chassis 008, as his most treasured possession. He also named a 356 Speedster, 964 Carrera RS and 918 Spyder as desert-island choices. His answer offers a useful counterpoint: the most compelling car to an enthusiast is not always the rarest or most dramatic one on paper.

Why the ownership timeline matters
A collector’s auction history and a current garage are different things. The 2016 Gooding list records cars offered from Seinfeld’s collection, while Rennlist and RM Sotheby’s identify other notable former cars. Porsche’s 2023 report is a distinct later confirmation: Seinfeld took possession of the one-off 911 Classic Club Coupe. The evidence supports a portrait of a collection that changed over time, not a definitive inventory of what he owns today.
Gooding’s 2016 release also attributed this description of the cars to Seinfeld: “Each one of these cars is a pinnacle of mechanical culture to me.”
