How much did the reported Model Y lease payment increase?
Notebookcheck reported on September 4, 2025, that Tesla’s Model Y promotional starting payment was set to move from $399 to $479 per month, an increase of $80 per month. The same report said the Model 3 starting payment would rise from $299 to $349, a $50 increase. Notebookcheck’s report is the source for those promotional figures; Tesla’s later SEC filing does not independently confirm the lease schedule.
A monthly payment by itself does not establish the total cost of a lease. The report does not provide enough terms to calculate a comparable total for an individual customer.
When did the $399 offer and federal credit deadline fall?
Notebookcheck reported September 21, 2025, as the order cutoff for the $399 Model Y promotion. Its article separately discussed delivery by September 30, 2025, in connection with the then-applicable $7,500 federal consumer EV credit. The order cutoff and the credit’s statutory end date were distinct milestones; the report alone does not establish whether a particular customer or transaction qualified.

Both dates are in the past. Tesla’s 2025 Form 10-K says the One Big Beautiful Bill Act was enacted on July 4, 2025, and repealed individual consumer tax credits for electric vehicles. The former $7,500 federal consumer credit should not be treated as available under that program in 2026. Tesla’s 2025 Form 10-K provides the policy context.
What the reported payment does—and does not—tell you
The $399 and $479 amounts were reported promotional starting payments, not complete lease quotes. The available report does not establish the terms needed to compare either figure with a current offer or determine a customer’s total cost.

- Monthly payment and amount due at signing
- Lease term and annual mileage allowance
- Taxes, fees, and any lease-end charges
- Eligibility for applicable state or local incentives
