Short answer: A Tesla showroom or Experience Center in India is primarily for browsing cars, learning about features, placing an order and (where available) arranging a demo drive. A service centre handles diagnosis, maintenance and, at approved facilities, collision repairs. Some locations combine both roles: the Gurugram Tesla Centre has been reported to offer retail, test drives, after-sales diagnosis and maintenance, delivery logistics and V4 Supercharging. Do not assume that every Experience Center has a workshop; check the exact location and job type with Tesla before travelling.
Showroom, Experience Center and Tesla Centre are not interchangeable terms
Tesla’s India location directory uses several labels. It lists a Tesla Centre in Gurugram, Experience Centers in Aerocity, BKC and Bengaluru, and a retail site in Hyderabad. The directory also displays demo-drive scheduling links for the listed locations. Because the directory is live, locations, labels and appointment links can change; check the current entry immediately before you set out.

In practical terms, “showroom” is a useful everyday description for a customer-facing retail or Experience Center. Tesla’s official pages do not establish that every such site has technicians, lifts, diagnostic equipment or body-repair capacity. A Tesla Centre may combine retail and workshop functions, but that is a location-specific arrangement rather than a nationwide rule.

What you can normally do at a Tesla showroom or Experience Center
Explore the cars and receive product guidance
An Experience Center is designed for the purchase decision. Staff can explain the models and available configurations, demonstrate the interface and driver-assistance features, discuss charging at home, and help you understand the ordering process. It is a product-experience environment, not automatically a repair workshop.
Arrange a demo drive when the location is offering them
The location directory provides demo-drive scheduling links. However, Tesla’s FAQ currently says that test drives will be available soon. Those two official pages do not align cleanly, so treat a booking link as an invitation to check availability, not as a guarantee that a drive will occur on the day you want. Use the scheduling flow or contact Tesla and obtain confirmation before making a long trip.
Start or manage an order
Tesla directs Indian customers to its online Design Studio to explore options and place an order. A retail visit can help you understand the choices, but the order itself is completed through Tesla’s online process. As delivery approaches, Tesla says it will contact you to confirm registration and payment details and provide handover information, including the delivery location.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsDiscuss delivery and ownership logistics
Some Tesla Centres may support delivery or logistics in addition to retail. The reported Gurugram operation is one example. A separate Experience Center should not be presumed to be a handover site; ask Tesla where your vehicle will be delivered and which documents or payment steps remain outstanding.
What a service centre is equipped to do
Diagnosis and routine maintenance
A service facility is the appropriate channel for a vehicle fault, warning message, software-related problem that needs technician attention, scheduled maintenance or a physical inspection. Tesla’s India evidence confirms after-sales diagnosis and maintenance at Gurugram, and after-sales service associated with the Chennai opening. It does not publish a complete national menu of jobs for every location.
Collision and body repair
Collision work requires approved body-repair capability, parts and technicians trained to Tesla’s standards. The Chennai announcement says Tesla-approved collision and service capabilities are available in Poonamallee, with genuine parts, trained technicians and software-aware diagnostics. That is evidence for the Chennai area; it is not proof that every Experience Center can repair accident damage.
Software-aware repairs are still physical repairs
Tesla vehicles depend heavily on software and electronic diagnostics, but a service appointment can still involve mechanical, electrical, structural or body work. Describe the symptom accurately when booking and ask whether the selected facility handles that category. A retail employee may be able to start a support conversation, but the vehicle may need to be routed to a workshop elsewhere.

Charging at a service or retail site
Charging equipment at a location is an ownership convenience, not evidence that the site provides repairs. The Gurugram report identifies V4 Superchargers at that Tesla Centre. Other locations may have no on-site fast charging or may offer a different charging arrangement. Confirm charging access separately from workshop capability.
Location-by-location comparison
| Location or type | What the available evidence supports | What you must not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Experience Center or retail site | Customer-facing retail and product experience; Tesla’s directory provides demo-drive scheduling links. | That the site performs routine service, diagnosis or collision repair. |
| Gurugram Tesla Centre | Reported retail, test drives, vehicle education, after-sales diagnosis and maintenance, delivery/logistics and on-site V4 Supercharging. | That every Tesla location has this combined format or the same charging equipment. |
| Chennai Experience Center and Poonamallee facility | Reported retail and after-sales service in Chennai, with Tesla-approved service and collision capability in Poonamallee. | That the announcement is a complete nationwide workshop directory or that every retail centre offers identical repairs. |
The Gurugram details come from a report published by Gadgets 360 on 26 November 2025. The Chennai and Poonamallee details were reported by The Economic Times on 25 September 2026. Keep each claim attached to the named location rather than generalising it to India.
How to choose the right place for your visit
1. Identify your purpose
- Shopping or product questions: choose the nearest Experience Center or retail site shown in Tesla’s directory.
- Demo drive: use the location’s scheduling link, then confirm that drives are operating on your date.
- Warning light, fault or maintenance: request a service appointment and ask which workshop will receive the car.
- Crash damage: ask specifically for Tesla-approved collision capability; do not book a retail visit as a substitute.
- Delivery: follow Tesla’s online order communications and verify the handover location rather than assuming it is the showroom where you ordered.
2. Check the label and city in the live directory
Open the Tesla India location directory, read the location type and address, and follow the available appointment link. A listing’s presence does not by itself reveal the full workshop capability.

- COMPATIBLE WITH TESLA MODEL 3/MODEL Y/MODEL X/MODEL S CHARGER: Seven Sparta Charging Cable holder is a perfect holder to hang your charging cable from in the garage.
- KEEP YOUR CHARGING CABLE NEATLY AND SECURE: The cable organizer is much better than a normal hook. It does a good job of keeping the cable off of the ground, and protect your cable from falling down accidentally.
- SAFE ABS MATERIAL: The charger cable organizer is made from high quality ABS plastic, pass fireproofing grade testing. The bearing capacity can reach above 30KG at least. Prior to purchasing, we recommend confirming the product's size and material.
- EASY & SECURE INSTALLATION: The charging cable holder takes just minutes to install. The charger head fits snugly into the slot, with a notch to prevent it from sliding out.
3. Describe the job, not just the symptom
When contacting Tesla, state whether the request is a periodic inspection, a driveability fault, a high-voltage or charging problem, glass or tyre damage, or collision repair. Ask whether the named site performs that work, whether an inspection is required first, and whether the car will be transported to another facility.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
4. Confirm appointment and travel details
- Get the exact address and appointment time in writing or in Tesla’s app or support channel.
- Ask whether the vehicle must be left for the day and whether a charging point is available.
- For collision work, ask about insurer coordination, parts availability and the expected assessment process.
- Do not rely on an old social-media post or a previous visit; the network is expanding and operating details can change.
Ordering, delivery and test-drive steps
- Configure online: open Tesla’s India Design Studio from the official FAQ and review the available vehicle and payment choices.
- Use a retail visit for clarification: an Experience Center can make the product easier to understand, but it does not replace the online order flow.
- Submit the order and monitor Tesla’s messages: Tesla says it will contact you as delivery approaches to confirm registration and payment details.
- Verify the handover site: Tesla provides delivery information, including the exact location, nearer to handover. It may differ from the Experience Center you visited.
- For a demo drive, check twice: follow the directory’s scheduling link, then confirm by phone or the Tesla support channel because the FAQ currently describes test drives as coming soon.
Do not interpret a successful order or demo-drive request as evidence that the same site can service the car. Retail and after-sales scheduling are separate decisions.
What to do when your Tesla needs service
Before booking
- Record the warning message exactly, including when it appears and whether the car can be driven safely.
- Note recent charging events, software updates, tyre or glass damage and any collision, even if the damage seems minor.
- Have the vehicle identification and contact details available through your Tesla account.
At the booking stage
Use Tesla’s service channel and ask for the facility that handles your job in your city. The reviewed sources substantiate Gurugram diagnosis and maintenance and Chennai/Poonamallee service and collision capability; they do not provide a reliable, exhaustive list of workshops across India. If the first location is retail-only, Tesla should direct you to the relevant service site.
When the car is unsafe to drive
Do not drive a vehicle with serious collision damage, exposed high-voltage components, smoke, a burning smell or a warning that indicates an immediate safety risk. Tell Tesla the vehicle’s condition and ask for recovery instructions. The correct destination may be an approved service or collision facility rather than the nearest showroom.
After the work
Check that the repair order identifies the work completed, parts fitted and any recommended follow-up. Confirm that charging, cameras, driver-assistance functions and warning messages operate normally before leaving, especially after collision or electrical work.
Charging is related to ownership, not a substitute for service
Tesla’s official guidance says, “The most convenient place to charge your Tesla vehicle is at home, overnight.” Tesla recommends planning a Wall Connector installation at your home or another suitable property. Electrical capacity, cable routing, earthing and installation permissions should be assessed before fitting equipment; a retail employee can explain the product, but the installation itself is a separate practical project.
The FAQ also links to India Supercharger and Destination Charger locations. A Supercharger at a Tesla Centre may be useful while visiting, but public charging availability does not indicate that technicians at that site can repair your vehicle. Check the current charger map and the service appointment separately through Tesla’s official FAQ.
Insurance and collision-repair decisions
Tesla’s India FAQ identifies Acko, ICICI Lombard, Liberty General Insurance and Zurich Kotak as preferred insurance providers. That is Tesla’s own list, not a statement that they are the only insurers available or that their policies have identical coverage. Compare policy wording for battery, charger, zero-depreciation, flood, roadside assistance, cashless repair and claim-management terms before choosing.
After an accident, tell both Tesla and your insurer that the vehicle is a Tesla and ask for an approved collision facility. The Chennai announcement specifically describes Tesla-approved collision capability in Poonamallee. Do not assume that a general body shop, or a retail Experience Center, can perform structural or high-voltage repairs to Tesla’s standards.

Turning up for a test drive without confirmation
Why it fails: the directory shows scheduling links while the FAQ says test drives will be available soon. Fix: confirm the appointment and operating status directly.
Going to a charger for a fault
Why it fails: charging equipment is not diagnostic or repair capacity. Fix: create a service request and use the charger only if Tesla confirms it is available for your visit.
Assuming the delivery site is the ordering site
Why it fails: Tesla supplies handover details as delivery approaches. Fix: wait for the confirmed delivery location and documents in Tesla’s communication.
Using an unapproved collision shop
Why it fails: accident repairs can involve sensors, software calibration and high-voltage systems. Fix: request Tesla-approved collision capability and coordinate the claim with your insurer.
Questions to ask Tesla before you travel
- Is this location an Experience Center, retail site or Tesla Centre?
- Does it perform diagnosis and routine maintenance, or only sales and demonstrations?
- Does it accept collision repairs, and if so, is the work performed here or at another approved facility?
- Is my requested demo drive available on the date and time shown online?
- Where will my ordered vehicle be handed over?
- Is on-site charging available, and is it open to customers during a service visit?
- What documents, vehicle condition or insurer information should I bring?
Bottom line for Indian Tesla owners and buyers
Use an Experience Center or retail site to learn about the car, arrange a confirmed demo drive and get help with the online purchase journey. Use a service centre for diagnosis and maintenance, and insist on an approved collision facility after an accident. Gurugram demonstrates that Tesla can combine retail, after-sales work, delivery and charging in one Tesla Centre; Chennai and Poonamallee show a retail location paired with approved service and collision capability. Those examples do not make every Indian showroom a workshop. Check Tesla’s live directory, describe the exact job and confirm the appointment and destination before you set off.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get my Tesla repaired at any Experience Center in India?
No. Experience Centers are primarily retail and product-experience sites. Tesla has reported after-sales capability at Gurugram and service and collision capability in the Chennai/Poonamallee area, but you must confirm the exact facility and repair type before visiting.
Does Tesla offer test drives in India now?
Tesla’s location directory provides demo-drive scheduling links, while its FAQ says test drives will be available soon. Because the official pages differ, confirm availability with the chosen location before travelling.

Where should I take a Tesla after an accident?
Ask Tesla and your insurer for a Tesla-approved collision facility. The Chennai announcement identifies such capability in Poonamallee; a retail showroom should not be assumed to handle structural or high-voltage collision repairs.
Can a Tesla showroom arrange my delivery?
A Tesla Centre may support delivery logistics, as reported for Gurugram. Tesla’s FAQ says the confirmed handover location is provided as delivery approaches, so wait for Tesla’s delivery communication rather than assuming it will be the showroom you visited.
