The recall population is not a count of confirmed failures. Check your truck’s VIN to see whether it is included; Tesla says the replacement is free.
What is the Cybertruck cantrail recall?
The recall concerns the cantrail assembly: the stainless-steel panel that runs beside the windshield and roof. Tesla says, “On affected vehicles, the stainless steel panel of the cantrail assembly may delaminate at the adhesive joint, which may cause the panel to separate from the vehicle.” Tesla’s Cybertruck Cantrail Replacement page says a detectable cabin noise or visible loosening may occur before the panel separates.

If the panel separates while the truck is in Drive, it could become a road hazard for following motorists and increase the risk of injury or a collision. The recall identifies a potential defect; it does not mean every affected Cybertruck has experienced a failure.
Which Cybertrucks are included?
The recall covers all model-year 2024 and 2025 Cybertrucks manufactured from November 13, 2023, through February 27, 2025. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration filing, as reported by The Associated Press, lists 46,096 vehicles in the recall population; that figure is not a tally of panels that have detached. The Associated Press report gives the exact count behind the rounded 46,000 figure.

How to check whether your Cybertruck is affected
- Find your vehicle identification number (VIN), available on your vehicle documents or in the vehicle’s Tesla app.
- Enter the VIN in Tesla’s recall search or the NHTSA recall search.
- If the result shows this recall, follow Tesla’s current service instructions and contact Tesla if you need help arranging the repair.
The production dates describe the recall’s overall scope, but a VIN lookup is the practical way to confirm an individual vehicle’s eligibility.
What is the repair, and does it cost anything?
Tesla says it will replace the cantrail assembly at no charge with an assembly that meets durability testing requirements. The company estimates the replacement will take approximately one hour. The repair is performed by Tesla; the recall information does not recommend an owner-applied adhesive or other do-it-yourself fix.

Check your VIN and follow Tesla’s current scheduling instructions. If you notice cabin noise or visible loosening around the panel, contact Tesla for guidance rather than treating that symptom as proof that the panel is secure.
