The recall concerns the exterior cantrail (spelled “cant rail” in Tesla’s NHTSA filing), whose adhesive joint may fail and allow trim to separate. Affected owners can confirm their vehicle by VIN and receive a free replacement assembly through Tesla.
Which Cybertrucks are included?
Tesla’s Part 573 report filed with NHTSA identifies 46,096 potentially involved trucks from model years 2024 and 2025, manufactured between November 13, 2023, and February 27, 2025. Those dates describe the campaign population, not a finding that every truck in that range has the defect. Check the individual vehicle’s VIN to determine whether it has an unrepaired recall. Tesla’s NHTSA recall report identifies the campaign as 25V-170.
What is the trim problem?
The affected part is an exterior trim assembly: an electrocoated steel stamping attached to a stainless-steel panel with structural adhesive. Tesla says the adhesive joint can delaminate, potentially allowing the panel to separate from the truck. If it comes off while the vehicle is being driven, it could create a road hazard for following motorists and increase the risk of a collision or injury.
Tesla identifies detectable cabin noise or trim that appears visibly loose or separating as possible signs of the condition. These signs do not replace a VIN check or Tesla’s assessment of the vehicle.

What is the recall repair?
Tesla will replace the cantrail assembly at no charge. In its filing, the company says the replacement uses a different adhesive and adds a welded stud and nut to clamp the steel panel to the vehicle structure. Tesla estimates the replacement takes approximately one hour, according to its cantrail assembly recall support page.
How to check your Cybertruck and arrange service
- Find the VIN. Use the vehicle’s 17-character vehicle identification number for the lookup.
- Check Tesla’s recall search. Enter the VIN in Tesla’s VIN recall search to see whether the campaign applies.
- Check NHTSA if needed. The agency’s recall lookup also shows unrepaired recalls. NHTSA cautions that results may not show recalls already repaired and may not yet include some recently announced recalls while vehicle identification is underway.
- Follow Tesla’s VIN-specific instructions. Tesla says it will contact affected owners to schedule service when remedy parts are available in their region. Use the current guidance for the specific vehicle rather than attempting an owner repair.
Tesla’s support page says affected vehicles may continue to be driven, but owners should follow current VIN-specific Tesla guidance, particularly if they notice cabin noise or visibly loosening trim.

What Tesla reported about claims and injuries
In its 2025 filing, Tesla reported 151 potentially related warranty claims as of March 14, 2025, and said it was not aware of related collisions, fatalities, or injuries as of that filing. Those are dated company-reported figures, not current totals.
