The Tesla Model F autonomous flying car was not a real Tesla announcement. The headline refers to an April Fools joke associated with a Futurism video published on April 1, 2016; its description ends with, “Hope everyone had a wonderful April Fools!”
What the “Model F” story actually was
Futurism presented “Tesla Announces Flying Car, The Model F” as an April Fools item. The accompanying description explicitly disclosed the joke, so the concept should not be treated as a Tesla product reveal, development program or planned aircraft.

What Tesla’s official lineup says
Tesla’s 2025 Form 10-K states: “We currently manufacture five different consumer vehicles – the Model 3, Y, S, X and Cybertruck.” The filing does not list a Model F or a flying vehicle.
#1 Best Overall
- Toy Vehicle Form: Car
- Theme: Car
| Subject | What the 2025 Form 10-K establishes |
|---|---|
| Tesla consumer vehicles | Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck |
| Robotaxi operation | The filing describes Robotaxi service operating with Model Y vehicles |
| Cybercab | A purpose-built autonomous vehicle that Tesla expects to include in the service in time |
| Model F flying car | Not listed; no verified product specifications or launch information established |
Flying-car claims versus Tesla’s autonomous-driving plans
Tesla’s Robotaxi and Cybercab discussion concerns ground vehicles. “Autonomous” in that context refers to driving on roads, not autonomous aircraft operation. The filing’s wording about expected future inclusion also describes a plan, not proof that every planned service capability has already been deployed.
Is there a real Tesla Model F to buy?
No verified vehicle is established by the cited sources. Consequently, there is no reliable Tesla Model F price, reservation page, delivery timetable, aircraft specification or consumer purchasing path. Pages that assign the fictional concept a range, top speed, passenger count or launch year are not supported by the evidence cited here.
Rank #2
- Hot Wheels Tesla Model Y, HW Green Speed 1/10 [Gray] 37/250
How to read the headline today
- Read “Model F” as the name used in an April Fools concept, not as a sixth Tesla consumer model.
- Separate the joke from Tesla’s documented road-vehicle lineup.
- Keep Robotaxi and Cybercab in their proper context: ground-based autonomous-vehicle plans described in Tesla’s filing.
- Do not use the headline as evidence that Tesla has announced an aircraft, accepted orders or published flight specifications.
The Bottom Line
The Tesla Model F autonomous flying car was an April Fools joke, not a real Tesla product announcement. Tesla’s 2025 filing lists five consumer vehicles and discusses ground-based Robotaxi and Cybercab plans; it provides no evidence of a flying Model F.
