Which Tesla Model 3 incentives are available?
Tesla’s incentive listings change by vehicle, location, inventory status and funding. The amounts below are the programs Tesla documents for the 2026 U.S. market; local sponsors can change eligibility or stop accepting applications when money runs out.

Do not assume a new Model 3 qualifies for a federal clean-vehicle credit today. Tesla’s incentives page and the Internal Revenue Service state that the Inflation Reduction Act clean-vehicle credit ended for vehicles placed in service after September 30, 2025. The IRS’s cutoff applies only when all statutory requirements were met by the deadline; it does not create a continuing 2026 credit.

If you are relying on a purchase agreement, binding contract or a different vehicle’s eligibility, check the latest IRS guidance and the seller’s paperwork before signing. Model year, battery sourcing, income limits, price caps and delivery timing can all matter when a credit is legally available.
How credit transfer works when a federal credit is legally available
The IRS transfer rules allow an eligible buyer to transfer an allowable clean-vehicle credit to a registered dealer in exchange for an equivalent benefit, such as a lower amount due or down payment. This mechanism does not revive an expired credit; it matters only for a transaction that qualifies under the law in effect on its placed-in-service date.

- Ask the dealer whether the vehicle and buyer qualify under the current IRS rules.
- Confirm the dealer is registered to process the transfer.
- Obtain the seller report containing the vehicle identification number.
- Verify that the dealer submitted the transaction successfully and that the financial benefit appears in the purchase documents.
How to compare cash, lease and finance offers
Tesla’s configurator presents cash, lease and finance routes, and its displayed prices exclude tax. A lower advertised monthly payment is not necessarily the lowest-cost transaction.

Delivery timing and inventory eligibility can determine whether a program survives long enough to be used. A municipal or utility rebate may be paid after purchase rather than at the point of sale, so include the timing in your cash-flow comparison.

What can Tesla owners do to maximize legitimate savings?
Check account-based eligibility first
Sign in to the Tesla Account that may contain a prior-owner loyalty benefit before configuring or placing an inventory order. Because the $500 benefit is account-bound and non-transferable, switching accounts or vehicles can remove it.
Verify American Heroes status before ordering
Complete ID.me verification and follow the redirected Tesla ordering path. Keep the qualifying documentation and confirm that the $500 reduction is shown before tax in the order summary. Tesla states that this offer is stackable with current finance offers and Refer & Earn; do not assume it stacks with every other Tesla discount unless the order terms say so.

Search by service address, not just vehicle
Use your home address and electric utility to check municipal and utility programs. San Jose Clean Energy’s listed amounts and the Wall Connector rebates from Entergy Arkansas and Lansing Board of Water & Light are location-specific. Funding can close without notice when the sponsoring agency reaches its allocation.
Charging rebates and the Model 3 purchase decision
A home charging installation can be part of the Model 3’s effective cost. The listed utility programs concern Wall Connector installation, so confirm whether the rebate covers the equipment, electrical work, permitting or only a specific portion. Check approved contractors, purchase dates, inspection requirements and application deadlines before installation; buying equipment first can make a later claim ineligible.
A practical ordering checklist
- Enter your ZIP code and confirm whether the exact Model 3 is new inventory, used inventory or a custom order.
- Review your Tesla Account for the prior-owner loyalty benefit.
- Complete ID.me verification if you qualify for American Heroes.
- Check your city, county and electric utility for open vehicle and charging programs, then read their current terms.
- Compare cash, finance and lease totals, including tax, registration, delivery, interest, lease mileage and residual rules.

What this means for a 2026 Model 3 buyer
The dependable Tesla-listed opportunities are the $500 loyalty benefit for qualifying prior owners and the separate $500 American Heroes discount for verified participants. The California $3,500 allocation is closed, and the federal credit’s September 30, 2025 cutoff means a standard 2026 purchase should not be budgeted around that credit. Local programs, especially utility and municipal offers, can change the calculation substantially, but only after you confirm that your address, vehicle and purchase timing qualify.
