As of October 5, 2026, Tesla’s cited public materials do not confirm either a consumer vehicle called “Model 2” or a $25,000 price for one. Tesla has described work on a more affordable model and future vehicles using aspects of its next-generation platform, but it has not supplied Model 2-specific pricing, specifications, or a launch date in the sources cited here.
Is the $25,000 Tesla Model 2 real?
Not as a confirmed consumer-car name and price in the official Tesla materials cited here. “Model 2” and “$25,000” should be treated as unverified labels, not announced product details. Tesla has not provided enough information in these sources to establish that a car matching those claims is on sale or available to order.
Tesla’s Q2 2025 Quarterly Update Deck said: “We continue to expand our vehicle offering, including first builds of a more affordable model in June, with volume production planned for the second half of 2025.” That is what Tesla planned at the time. The statement does not name the vehicle, confirm that volume production began, or establish that customers could buy it.
What Tesla has said about future vehicles
In its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Tesla discussed capacity for newer models and future vehicles that use aspects of its next-generation platform. The filing describes future products broadly; it gives no consumer Model 2 name, price, specifications, or launch date.
#1 Best Overall
- Boy's model toy car: The body is made of alloy material, with exquisite paint craftsmanship and good durability.
- Realistic alloy model car: The 1:32 interior decoration is realistic, with six doors that can be opened. The steering wheel and seats have simulated designs.
- Toy car with lights and music: Opening the car door can light up the lights and simulate the sound of an engine starting. It's a toy car that boys like.
- Companion to Decoration and Cake Decorations: It plays a great decorative role on display cabinets at home and is a great decoration for boys' birthday cake parties.
- Gift selection for toy cars for boys aged 3-12: This gift is suitable for children aged 3 and above and is a collectible for car enthusiasts.
Tesla’s investor-relations press listing includes a Q3 2026 production and deliveries release dated October 2, 2026. That release reports aggregate production and deliveries, not a Model 2 announcement. The listing is not an exhaustive record of every company communication, but it does not supply confirmation of the name or price.
Is the Cybercab Tesla’s $25,000 car?
No such equivalence is established. Tesla’s Q2 2026 earnings materials say Cybercab began production at Gigafactory Texas, but describe it as a separately named, purpose-built Robotaxi. That production update is not confirmation of a personal-purchase Model 2 or a $25,000 consumer vehicle. See Tesla’s investor-relations materials for company announcements.

What is known—and unknown—about the affordable Tesla
The company’s statements support only a limited account: Tesla reported first builds of an unnamed more affordable model in June 2025, planned volume production for the second half of 2025, and later discussed future vehicles using aspects of its next-generation platform. The cited materials do not connect those statements to a confirmed “Model 2.”
They also do not establish a price, range, battery, dimensions, equipment, charging performance, warranty, ownership cost, or delivery timing for a Model 2. Without those details, a numerical comparison against the Model 3, Model Y, or another car would be speculative rather than a useful buying comparison.

What prospective buyers should do
Do not make a purchase decision or budget around the unconfirmed name or price. If Tesla announces a specific affordable car, check the official listing for the market where you intend to buy and compare its published price, range, charging access, size, equipment, warranty, and any applicable incentives with current alternatives. Incentive eligibility can depend on location, date, vehicle, and buyer circumstances; no current eligibility claim is established here.
