Tesla’s “We, Robot” robotaxi unveiling was scheduled for October 10, 2024. The reported invitation called it the company’s “official unveiling of the future of autonomy” and asked recipients to RSVP by October 6.
What Tesla’s “We, Robot” invitation said
The invitation wording reported at the time was: “Join us for We, Robot—our official unveiling of the future of autonomy.” The announcement concerned a robotaxi unveiling, not the launch of an already operating public robotaxi service.
TeslaNorth reported that recipients had to submit an RSVP before midnight on Sunday, October 6, 2024, to be eligible to attend. An RSVP was an eligibility requirement, not a guarantee of admission.
When and where was the event?
The event was scheduled for October 10, 2024. Coverage identified the venue as the Warner Bros. studio lot in Burbank, California. An image of the invitation used “Los Angeles” as its location label; that broader label and Burbank as the venue’s city are distinct descriptions, not necessarily conflicting ones.

Tesla Oracle reported the October 10 date and Los Angeles label on the invitation image, while Electrek identified Warner Bros.’ studio lot in Burbank as the venue.

The title recalls Isaac Asimov’s I, Robot. TechCrunch described “We, Robot” as a nod to Asimov’s collection of stories about robots and humans. That is context for the name, not an explanation attributed to Tesla.
