Tesla’s entry into Turkey’s automobile market is a 2023 event, not a new development in 2026. Turkey’s Directorate of Communications reported on 18 September 2023 that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had recalled Tesla entering the market after Togg began operating. Tesla still lists Turkish stores, and industry data records sales in early 2026.

The report said he also called on Elon Musk to open Tesla’s seventh factory in Turkey. This is the government’s account of Erdoğan’s remarks, not a direct transcript. The available official account confirms the broad timing of Tesla’s market entry, but does not establish the exact dates of the first orders, customer deliveries, or store openings.
Is Tesla operating in Turkey now?
Tesla’s official store directory currently lists locations in Istanbul, İzmir, Antalya, Ankara, and Adana, with demo-drive scheduling links for those locations. The directory confirms the locations Tesla lists, but does not say when each one opened. Tesla’s Turkey store directory.

Sales figures also indicate continuing retail activity. The Association of Automotive Distributors and Mobility (ODMD) reported 935 Tesla passenger-car retail sales in Turkey for January–March 2026. ODMD marks Tesla’s sales figures as estimates based on public statements, so the number should be read as an estimate rather than a separately verified count. ODMD’s report published 2 April 2026.
What do the reported Tesla sales figures show?
ODMD’s published totals show different annual figures, but the 2024 number conflicts with a secondary report. These sources should not be treated as interchangeable:

The difference between ODMD’s 2024 make-level total and CATS’s Model Y figure is substantial, but the sources do not establish why they differ or whether their underlying scopes align. Do not add the figures together or use one as a correction of the other.
