Engler’s Desat is frightening less because 1,100 hp is unmatched than because that power is paired with a motorcycle-style riding position and little of the enclosure associated with a hypercar. New Atlas reported the figure as promised output in 2023, alongside claimed acceleration and top speed figures that have not been independently verified in the sources available.
Which Engler quad has 1,100 hp?
The vehicle in the 1,100-hp headline is the Engler Desat, not the company’s later V12 project. New Atlas reported in May 2023 that the Desat debuted with a promised 1,100 hp. Engler’s earlier Superquad, by contrast, was described as using an Audi-sourced 5.2-liter V10 and producing a reported 850 hp. New Atlas’s Desat report is the source for those figures.

That distinction matters: the Desat’s headline output should not be combined with the V12’s later specifications as though they describe one vehicle.
What performance does Engler claim for the Desat?
New Atlas reported a claimed 0–100 km/h (62 mph) time of 2.5 seconds and called the Desat’s 350 km/h (217 mph) top speed alleged. These are reported claims, not independently tested results established by the sources available. The careful wording is that the Desat was claimed to reach these figures—not that it has demonstrated them in a verified test.

Why does it sound more terrifying than a hypercar?
The Desat’s defining contrast is its riding position. New Atlas describes a motorcycle-style straddle layout with a bump stop behind the seat. That leaves the rider more exposed than occupants in a conventional high-powered car, which typically has a windscreen and seat belts. The concern is not just the scale of the output, but the way the machine is ridden: the occupant is perched astride it rather than enclosed in a car cabin.
That contrast supports the “terrifying” framing, but it is not a formal safety assessment. The available reporting does not provide a safety test or establish the Desat’s protection in a crash. The vehicle’s cornering danger in New Atlas is commentary, not a regulator’s finding or measured result.
Where does 1,100 hp rank against other vehicles?
By power alone, the Desat is not shown to be in a class of one. New Atlas said that an earlier list of the world’s most powerful production cars already contained 26 hypercars exceeding 1,100 hp. That is a comparison snapshot described in its 2023 article, not a current or exhaustive count.
The more meaningful distinction is category and exposure. Hypercars may meet or exceed the Desat’s claimed output, but they are cars, with a car-style cabin and occupant restraints. The Desat combines a hypercar-level power claim with an exposed, motorcycle-like riding posture. It is therefore more distinctive for how its power is delivered to the rider than for holding a demonstrated record for horsepower.

Engler’s March 2025 specification sheet describes the V12 as a separate project. It lists 900–1,200 hp, 1,200 kg dry weight and 1,200 Nm of torque, and identifies its engine as an Engler V2 manufactured exclusively by Italtecnica. The same sheet lists an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, carbon-ceramic brakes, forged magnesium wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. These are manufacturer specifications for the V12—not Desat figures. Engler Automotive’s March 2025 V12 specification sheet is the source.
The V12’s specifications changed between company documents: the March 2024 sheet listed a 700–1,200 hp range and said the engine identity was still to be disclosed; the March 2025 sheet gives the newer range and engine description. Neither document turns the Desat’s claims into test results.
Can you buy or drive an Engler Desat?
The sources available do not establish the Desat’s current price, production status, availability for purchase or road legality. Those points should be treated as unresolved rather than inferred from its debut or performance claims.
Reports about the distinct V12 are also dated, not confirmation of present availability. Top Gear reported in June 2024 that it had a €1.2 million list price, a stated production capacity of 10 vehicles per year and five pre-orders at its Monaco debut. Automobil Revue described it as a prototype in April 2024 and said Engler had not disclosed whether or when a purchasable, road-legal version would be offered. A stated capacity is not a verified production or sales total, and those 2024 reports do not establish the V12’s current status. Top Gear’s June 2024 report and Automobil Revue’s April 2024 report describe that earlier context.
