TELO announced a $20 million Series A on September 23, 2025, to move its compact MT1 electric pickup toward production readiness and federal requirements. The funding is a step toward building the truck—not confirmation that it is certified or being delivered. As of October 8, 2026, the available sources do not confirm completed safety certification or customer deliveries.
What TELO’s $20 million Series A is meant to fund
TELO said the oversubscribed round would help it develop a production-intent version of the MT1, prepare for US homologation and crash testing, and reach production readiness. The company described the goal as meeting federal requirements; its announcement is not evidence that those requirements have since been met.
TELO said the round was co-led by designer and company co-founder Yves Béhar and Marc Tarpenning, a venture partner at Spero Ventures. It named TO VC, E12 Ventures, Neo, Marc Benioff, Uncorrelated Ventures, Nova Threshold, and MCJ among the additional investors. These are details from the company’s September 23, 2025 funding announcement; it did not provide an independently audited financing breakdown.
TELO also reported more than 12,000 pre-orders, representing over $600 million. Those are company-reported reservation figures, not independently verified sales or delivered-vehicle totals.

What the MT1 is supposed to offer
TELO’s current product page describes the MT1 as a 152-inch-long electric pickup, a compact footprint by pickup standards. The layout is intended to combine city maneuverability with a bed and passenger space for personal use or work.

These figures are manufacturer-published estimates on the MT1 product page, not results verified on customer production vehicles. TELO’s page lists 6,600 pounds of towing capacity, but an August 2026 Electrek report says the company raised its claimed rating to 8,000 pounds. Because those figures conflict, a towing number should not be treated as settled without a current, authoritative specification.

Why TELO is targeting city users and fleets
The company’s pitch is that a smaller truck could fit urban streets and parking while still hauling cargo. TELO presents the MT1 for deliveries, hauling, and on-site commercial work, and its commercial page lists service solutions for business use.
That positioning is not proof of lower operating costs or better work performance. Those outcomes depend on factors such as vehicle price, payload, duty cycle, charging access, maintenance, and local routes; the available company material does not independently establish them. Fleet buyers should assess the MT1 against their own use case and wait for confirmed production specifications and operating data.

Production, certification, and delivery remain open questions
In September 2025, TechCrunch reported that CEO Jason Marks hoped to make first deliveries by the end of 2026. That was a forward-looking target, not confirmation of a current delivery schedule. Its report described the planned work on a production-intent vehicle, homologation, and crash testing. The TechCrunch coverage does not establish that testing or certification has been completed.
As of October 8, 2026, the sources available for this article do not confirm that the MT1 has completed safety certification or reached customers. TELO’s website continues to solicit reservations. A reservation count and a stated delivery target should not be confused with an approved, production-ready vehicle or a fulfilled order.
