The TELO MT1 is a compact electric pickup that TELO says pairs a 60-inch bed with a four-door cabin and a configurable midgate that can extend the cargo area to 96 inches. Its published range, charging, payload, towing and performance figures are manufacturer estimates or claims—not independently verified production results. Car and Driver reported starting prices of $41,520 for rear-wheel drive and $46,019 for all-wheel drive, and said customer deliveries had not begun; TELO’s stated production target was before the end of 2026, not a guaranteed delivery date.
What is the TELO MT1?
TELO describes the MT1 as “The all-electric mini truck.” It is designed as a four-door pickup with seating TELO lists as two to five people, a compact exterior footprint and a bed that can be lengthened by opening a configurable midgate between the cabin and cargo area. The combination is the truck’s defining idea: a smaller vehicle that can carry longer cargo when configured for it.
TELO’s product page describes a 60-inch bed that can extend to 96 inches, plus an under-bed storage tunnel. The company also says the bed and midgate can be arranged to carry 4-by-8-foot sheet material with the tailgate closed. These are descriptions of the advertised design, not independently verified measurements or production testing. TELO MT1 product page.

How practical is the MT1’s bed and cabin layout?
At 152 inches long, the advertised MT1 is compact compared with the size of pickup its cargo flexibility is intended to evoke. Its standard 60-inch bed is described as extendable to 96 inches by configuring the midgate, which opens the rear cabin to the cargo area. TELO’s claim about carrying 4-by-8-foot sheets depends on using that longer-load configuration and keeping the tailgate closed; it should not be read as a claim that the standard bed alone accommodates those sheets.

Car and Driver reported that customer deliveries had not begun and that TELO was targeting production before the end of 2026. That date is a company target reported by the outlet, not confirmation that production has started or a promised delivery date. TELO’s March 6, 2025 announcement that it had unveiled its first pre-production MT1 was a development milestone, not evidence of mass production. Car and Driver; TELO’s pre-production announcement.
How should you interpret TELO’s operating-cost comparison?
TELO’s commercial page estimates annual operating costs of $1,661 for the TELO MT1 RWD versus $4,825 for a gasoline Ford F-150. TELO says the comparison assumes 15,000 miles of driving per year and 23 miles per gallon for the F-150, and includes fuel or electricity and service costs. These are the manufacturer’s estimates, not an independent analysis or a guarantee of an owner’s savings. Actual costs depend on electricity and fuel prices, driving, maintenance and the vehicles being compared. TELO commercial page.

What should you check before considering an order?
Because the MT1’s specifications and availability remain tied to a developing vehicle, compare current, like-for-like information rather than treating advertised figures as verified results. In particular, check:
- Current version pricing, options, order terms, deposit refundability, taxes and delivery charges.
- Whether customer deliveries have started and what delivery timing TELO is currently committing to.
- Final production dimensions against your garage, parking space and intended worksite access.
- Final range and charging performance, including the conditions and test method behind any figures.
- Final payload and towing ratings, and how those limits change with passengers, cargo and towing equipment.
- Whether the midgate, bed, outlets and storage features meet your actual passenger and cargo needs.
- Warranty coverage and service support in your area.
When comparing the MT1 with other pickups, use comparable range-test methods and clearly established ratings; do not treat company estimates and figures measured on different cycles as directly equivalent. The cited information does not support a definitive competitor-by-competitor verdict.
