TCab Tech Says E20 eVTOL Completed Transition Flight Tests

TCab Tech says its full-scale E20 demonstrator completed transition flight tests, a step toward engineering development rather than proof of certification or passenger service.

TCab Tech said on December 3, 2025, that its full-scale E20 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) demonstrator completed transition flight tests, moving from vertical lift to wing-borne cruise. The company reported stable attitude and precise control during the tests. This is a development milestone—not evidence that the aircraft is certified or ready to carry passengers commercially.

What does a transition flight test show?

The E20 is a tilt-rotor aircraft with a fixed wing. Its transition from vertical lift to wing-borne cruise requires the aircraft and its controls to manage a changing balance between rotor-borne lift and the wing’s contribution as it accelerates. Testing through this tilt corridor helps engineers assess how the aircraft behaves across that change.

TCab said the campaign validated the E20’s aerodynamic configuration across the full tilt corridor, its flight-control laws, and key sensors and actuators under representative thermal and vibration loads. The company also said telemetry matched design predictions and performance targets. Those are TCab’s reported findings; its announcement did not include the underlying telemetry or an independent test report, so readers cannot independently assess the results from the announcement alone.

The announcement describes multiple transition flight tests, not a single first transition, and identifies the aircraft as a full-scale demonstrator. It does not establish that every operational condition has been tested or that certification requirements have been met.

How the E20 is configured

TCab describes the E20 as a fully electric, passenger-carrying tilt-rotor eVTOL. In its earlier first-flight announcement, the company said four of the aircraft’s six rotors tilt, while the other two remain locked during forward flight. TCab’s product page lists six motors and rotors, four flight-control computers, four battery packs, and ten control surfaces.

In this configuration, transition is more than a change in direction: it tests the aircraft’s control and lift management as it moves from vertical flight toward wing-borne cruise. The December campaign announcement says the E20 handled the tested transition corridor stably; it does not establish a complete operating envelope or commercial capability.

Where the test fits in the E20 program

  1. November 24, 2023: TCab reported a successful first E20 flight test.
  2. March 19, 2025: The company announced completion of a structural validation campaign, with test cases covering takeoff, transition-corridor, and cruise loads. TCab reported less than 3% deviation in test-to-analysis correlation for that structural campaign; this figure does not describe transition-flight telemetry.
  3. December 3, 2025: TCab announced completion of transition flight tests and said the program was moving from technology verification into engineering development.

TCab says further flight-envelope expansion and certification work remain. Its FAQ lists a goal of type certification by 2027 and commercial deliveries thereafter; that is the company’s target, not an assured schedule or regulatory approval.
