The Tekton CX-Series is a vehicle-specific composite canopy designed for touring builds, not a self-contained camper. Tekton says its insulated monocoque shell uses woven-roving fibreglass and a high-density XPS foam core; its current product page lists canopy-only weights from 110 kg to 135 kg for the configurations shown. The Australian-market brochure lists base canopy prices from AUD $32,500 to $52,500, before optional equipment. Fit, weight, price and included gear depend on the exact vehicle and build, so get a current written quote before comparing it with an aluminum canopy or adding it to a payload calculation.
What is the Tekton CX-Series?
The CX-Series is Tekton’s range of composite canopies for selected dual-cab, extra-cab and US truck applications. It is intended as an outfittable touring canopy: buyers can configure storage, a galley, water, electrical equipment and other accessories around the vehicle. An optional integrated rooftop tent is listed, but the canopy itself is not a sleeping camper.
Tekton describes the CX as a “true monocoque composite body.” Its product page says the roof, doors, floor and walls form a sealed shell, rather than treating the canopy as a set of separately framed panels. The page specifies structural woven-roving fibreglass and a high-density XPS foam core. How does its construction compare with an aluminum canopy?
The main distinction is material and construction: Tekton describes a composite, foam-core monocoque, while the comparison models covered by New Atlas are aluminum canopies. Tekton says the insulation helps fridges run more efficiently and protects dry goods from external heat, and calls the CX “the most thermally efficient canopy on the market.” Those are manufacturer claims; the materials cited here do not provide independent thermal tests or measured energy savings.

Tekton also claims the CX is “up to 50% lighter than comparable aluminium builds.” The product page does not identify the exact comparison models behind that maximum. New Atlas’s March 4, 2026 launch coverage gives a more specific, limited comparison: it reported a 110 kg CX dual-cab canopy against a 178 kg MITS Alloy aluminum dual-cab canopy and a 156 kg Norweld aluminum dual-cab canopy. What are the listed weights and dimensions?
Tekton’s current product page gives these canopy-only specifications. A canopy-only figure is not the same as the installed weight of a complete touring setup: service bodies and added equipment weigh more. Confirm the precise configuration, hardware and vehicle fitment with Tekton before using a figure in a payload calculation.

The product page separately lists service-body weights of 155 kg for extra cab and 185 kg for US truck. The dual-cab service-body figure should be confirmed directly because the live listing may change. These values should not be mixed with canopy-only weights. Tekton CX-Series specifications
How much does a Tekton CX canopy cost?
Tekton’s brochure lists Australian-market base prices of AUD $32,500 for dual cab, AUD $38,500 for extra cab and AUD $52,500 for US truck. These are brochure prices for base canopies, not delivered prices for fully equipped vehicles. The brochure directs buyers to contact Tekton for optional-equipment price lists and build dates, so treat the figures as a starting point rather than a current quote. Tekton brochure

New Atlas reported launch pricing in March 2026, including AU$42,500 for a single-cab version, but the brochure’s current configuration labels and prices are the more appropriate basis for the listed options above. Ask Tekton to confirm current availability, build timing, taxes or delivery costs, and the price of the exact configuration you want.

The listed options range from practical storage to a more integrated touring fit-out. The product page describes a 140 L fresh-water system, hot and cold shower, choice of 270-degree awning, modular rear area, customizable kitchen and storage layouts, Victron-based electrical packages, and an integrated rooftop tent with a sleeping platform measuring 2.2 × 1.35 m for two people. The brochure also lists these equipment categories and accessories:

What should you check before ordering?
- Confirm fitment. Give Tekton the vehicle year and model, cab style, tray dimensions and any relevant tray or tub details. A model-family match is not a substitute for checking the specific vehicle and hardware.
- Compare like with like. Establish whether a quoted figure is canopy-only or for a service body, and whether it includes mounting hardware. Add the weight of the chosen tent, fridge, water, batteries and accessories before assessing payload.
- Get the whole-build price. Ask for the base canopy, each selected option, any fitting or delivery charges, and the expected build date in writing. The brochure does not provide a complete current options price list.
- Assess the layout against your use. Decide whether the kitchen, refrigeration, storage, water and shower setup suits your trip, and whether the roof system and tent are useful enough to justify their added cost and weight.
- Check payload and axle limits for the finished vehicle. Use the vehicle maker’s ratings and the actual completed build weight, including passengers, cargo and water—not the bare-canopy number alone.
