Which alternatives are closest to the Sierra EV’s budget?
The BE 6 overlaps most closely with the Sierra’s reported headline price. The Creta Electric and Windsor EV offer lower entry points through BaaS, where the battery payment is separate from the initial vehicle price. The XEV 9e spans into higher price territory, so only some of its pricing context is relevant to a Sierra-budget shortlist.

The prices come from different source dates and offer structures. Treat them as a shortlist, not a like-for-like price ranking.
Why the Mahindra BE 6 is the closest price match
Autocar India reports the BE 6 at ₹18.9–26.9 lakh ex-showroom, closely overlapping the Sierra EV’s reported ₹18.79–25.99 lakh range. The BE 6 therefore deserves the first comparison if the priority is a similar headline budget. That overlap does not establish equivalent trims or equipment, and the current variant list and dealer quote should be checked before choosing between them.
Mahindra’s November 2024 launch announcement listed introductory BE 6 and XEV 9e prices of ₹18.90 lakh and ₹21.90 lakh. For 79 kWh configurations, Mahindra claimed certified ranges of 682 km for the BE 6 and 656 km for the XEV 9e using MIDC P1+P2. It also claimed a 20–80% charge in under 20 minutes with a 175 kW charger. When the Creta Electric or Windsor EV makes more sense
Hyundai Creta Electric: consider the full BaaS payment
Hyundai’s July 2026 BaaS announcement puts the Creta Electric’s starting price at ₹10.99 lakh ex-showroom, with battery EMI from ₹3.9/km. That low initial figure excludes the battery purchase price; it should not be compared with a battery-included vehicle price without accounting for the per-kilometre payment and the offer’s contract terms.
Hyundai cites up to 510 km of ARAI-certified range. Its announcement says specified HC variants receive a 7.4 kW wall-box charger. Check the offer and charger eligibility for the exact variant rather than assuming every trim includes that equipment. Hyundai’s July 2026 BaaS announcement.
MG Windsor EV: lower-price CUV, not an exact format match
MG lists Windsor EV prices from ₹14,84,800 to ₹17,14,800 ex-showroom, with BaaS available from ₹9.99 lakh plus battery rent. The current product page lists 38 kWh and 52.9 kWh packs; the 52.9 kWh Pro is listed with 449 km certified range. MG notes that real-world range depends on load, air-conditioning use and driving style. Check the page and dealer for the specific variant’s applicable per-kilometre terms. The Windsor is a lower-price crossover utility vehicle (CUV) option with a different format from the Sierra. It belongs on the shortlist when upfront cost or cabin packaging is a priority, not as a direct substitute on vehicle format alone.

Where the XEV 9e fits—and which other rivals to check
The XEV 9e is an adjacent, more premium option rather than a uniform match for the Sierra budget. Mahindra’s November 2024 announcement gave an introductory price of ₹21.90 lakh; a January 2025 announcement priced Pack Three at ₹30.5 lakh. These are historical launch-era figures, not confirmation of today’s prices or of which versions fall within a buyer’s budget.
Mahindra’s January 2025 announcement described the 79 kWh battery as delivering “over 500 km of real-world range.” That is a claim by Veejay Nakra, then President of Mahindra’s Automotive Sector and Joint Managing Director of Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited, not an independent test result. Autocar India also names the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, VinFast VF6 and MG ZS EV as Sierra rivals. Current variant-level price and specification comparisons for those models are not established here, so check local availability and current dealer pricing before treating any as a budget match. How to compare range, charging and ownership fairly
Keep the range method attached to each number
The available range claims use different labels and sources. Autocar India reports 535–665 km for the Sierra EV but the cited excerpt does not identify a test cycle. Mahindra’s BE 6 and XEV 9e figures are certified MIDC P1+P2 claims for 79 kWh configurations; Hyundai cites up to 510 km ARAI-certified for the Creta Electric; MG lists 449 km certified for the Windsor 52.9 kWh Pro. These figures are not a controlled, same-method comparison and should not be ranked as though they were. Confirm the exact trim and test standard, then consider real-world use separately.

The Sierra’s reported 7.2 kW home charger and installation add ₹49,000. Hyundai says a 7.4 kW wall box is provided for specified HC variants. For any vehicle, check whether a home charger is included, what installation covers, whether the home electrical supply can support it, and what charging equipment is available near the routes you use. Mahindra’s under-20-minute 20–80% claim depends on a 175 kW charger; it does not establish that a compatible fast charger is accessible where you drive. No third-party charger model is established here as compatible with the Sierra, so confirm compatibility, installation and warranty with Tata or a qualified installer.
