The 2025 Ford Bronco offers an unusual 7-speed manual transmission, but it is not America’s only new manual off-roader: Ford’s comparison page also lists a manual Jeep Wrangler. The Bronco’s seventh forward selection is a dedicated crawler gear; the transmission is paired with Ford’s 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder.
Does the 2025 Ford Bronco come with a manual transmission?
Yes. Ford identifies the Bronco’s manual as a Getrag MT88c, arranged as six conventional forward gears plus one very low crawler gear. Ford’s 2025 technical sheet lists the transmission at an estimated 130 lb with fluid. Ford’s 2025 Bronco technical information gives the transmission details.

What does the Bronco 7-speed crawler gear do?
The seven forward ratios are 6.56:1, 4.28:1, 2.37:1, 1.45:1, 1.00:1, 0.78:1 and 0.65:1. First gear’s unusually low 6.56:1 ratio is the crawler gear; the remaining six ratios cover ordinary road driving. That is why Ford describes the transmission as “6+1,” rather than seven evenly spaced road gears. Ford’s technical sheet identifies the ratios and layout.
Ford’s order guide says the manual option includes a “Granny Gear and Crank in Gear function and Hill Descent Control.” These are Ford-described features; consult the owner’s manual for operating conditions and instructions rather than inferring how or when to use them.

Which 2025 Bronco trims have a manual?
Availability depends on trim and configuration. Ford’s 2025 materials identify Outer Banks, Raptor and Stroppe Edition as automatic-only. Ford says other models offer a choice of automatic or manual, and its order guide explicitly lists both two-door and four-door Base configurations with the 2.3L engine and 7-speed manual.

Which engine comes with the manual Bronco?
Ford pairs the 7-speed manual with the 2.3L EcoBoost I-4. Ford’s 2025 specifications rate that engine at 300 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. No, not if “last” means the only new American off-road SUV available with a manual. Ford’s own comparison page lists the 2025 Jeep Wrangler with a 6-speed manual as well as the Bronco’s 7-speed. The Bronco’s distinction is its six road gears plus a dedicated crawler gear—not the absence of other manual off-roaders. Ford’s comparison is not a complete technical account of Wrangler gearing, so use Jeep’s official Wrangler specifications for a detailed gearing comparison.
