The Tata Punch.ev battery warranty is not the same for every car. Tata’s current summary gives eligible first-registered private owners of the Punch.ev 40 a “lifetime” high-voltage battery warranty, which means 15 years from first registration. For second or subsequent registrations, it lists 8 years or 160,000 km from the first registration, whichever comes first. Older Punch.ev material also lists 8 years or 160,000 km, so check the warranty card issued for your vehicle before relying on either term.
Which Tata Punch EV battery warranty applies?
The published terms depend on the Punch.ev version and battery pack, first-registration date, owner and vehicle use. Tata’s current warranty summary covers the Punch.ev 40; it should not be applied automatically to every Punch.ev or treated as a change to the terms on an older vehicle’s warranty card.

| Vehicle and registration | Published high-voltage battery term | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Punch.ev 40, eligible first registration | “Lifetime,” defined by Tata as 15 years from first RTO registration | Limited to eligible private individual registrations and specified company perk cars; vehicle-use exclusions apply. |
| Punch.ev 40, second or subsequent registration | 8 years or 160,000 km from the first registration date, whichever comes first | A subsequent owner must notify Tata of the transfer for the lifetime warranty to apply; without notification, Tata says lifetime cover is unavailable to that owner. |
| Earlier Punch.ev specification | 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first | An older published specification lists this battery-pack and motor term. It also lists a 3-year/125,000-km vehicle warranty; that is a separate warranty. |

Who qualifies for the 15-year term?
Tata’s current summary restricts lifetime treatment to eligible private individual registrations and specified company perk cars. It excludes display, demonstration, test-drive, courtesy, commercial, fleet, taxi and other company vehicle uses. Because those categories can affect eligibility, confirm the classification of your vehicle with Tata rather than relying on the word “lifetime” alone.

- High density negative paste, improves performance and increases battery life
- Enhanced life alloy or Silver Calcium stamped alloy increases cycle life and improves performance
- Calcium lead positive grid, maximizes conductivity and allows for low resistance
- Robust envelope separator with puncture resistant back, allows for increased acid circulation and prevents shorts. Improved acid circulation, helps the battery to remain cool, and extend battery life
- Vent cap design that resists acid leakage
What should owners of earlier Punch.ev models do?
Older Punch.ev material states 8 years or 160,000 km for the battery pack and motor. Do not assume that the current Punch.ev 40 offer supersedes the signed terms for an earlier vehicle. Check its Battery Warranty Card, model and pack details, and first-registration date.
What does the 70% battery SOH threshold mean?
Tata’s current Punch.ev 40 summary sets a capacity-warranty threshold at below 70% of nominal-energy State of Health (SOH) during the applicable warranty period. Tata describes gradual loss of battery energy and power as normal; that loss does not qualify under this capacity coverage unless the SOH falls below the stated threshold.

- ✅Batter dimensions: 10.75" L x 6.81" W x 8.98" H, Terminal: Tapered terminal (Left negative (-), Right positive (+)). ✅Please ensure to verify the dimensions and terminal position before making a purchase to guarantee compatibility with your vehicle to avoid any fitment issues.
- With a 70AH capacity and 710 cold cranking amps (CCA). Provides reliable performance and long service life, Up to 2 times the cycle life of conventional batteries. If your car's original battery is an AGM type, you must continue using an AGM battery, as your car will not accept a "downgrade" to a flooded battery. Nominal Voltage:12V. Charging Voltage:14.4~15.0V. Acceptable Charging Current:0~21A. Operating Temperature Range: -22°F~158°F.
- Heat / Cold Resistance: The materials used in the construction of AGM batteries (such as glass fiber mats and specialized separators) have better heat resistance. This allows AGM batteries to maintain their performance and capacity even in the hottest climates, They are also more resistant to extreme temperatures, making them ideal for hot or cold regions.
- Low Self-Discharge: AGM batteries have lower self-discharge rates compared to flooded batteries. Self-discharge refers to the loss of capacity that batteries experience over time when not in use. In hot climates, when the battery may need to be stored for extended periods or not frequently used, AGM batteries can better maintain charge, providing higher voltage output and easier engine start-up in any climate.
- Enhanced Safety: AGM batteries have a lower risk of acid leaks and spills compared to flooded batteries. This is because the acid is absorbed and held within the glass fiber mats, reducing the risk of corrosion or damage to surrounding components, this makes AGM batteries more durable and long-lasting, is also two to three times longer than flooded batteries. AGM batteries also have a lower risk of explosion and are safer to handle, making them ideal for high-performance vehicles.
SOH is the battery’s assessed condition relative to its nominal energy capacity. A shorter driving range by itself does not establish that the threshold has been crossed. The summary makes Tata’s assessment central to whether capacity coverage applies; it does not promise that the battery will retain its original capacity or range throughout the warranty term.

What happens if Tata determines a repair or replacement is due?
Tata says it will decide whether repair or replacement of the battery pack or cells is appropriate. Its published capacity target after that work is the higher of the battery’s pre-repair steady-state SOH or 80% SOH. The summary does not promise that every qualifying case will receive a complete new battery pack.

What is excluded or still needs checking?
The accessible current summary establishes several important limits: normal gradual capacity loss that remains at or above the threshold is not covered under this capacity provision; lifetime eligibility depends on registration and vehicle use; and a subsequent owner must notify Tata of the transfer for lifetime cover to apply.

Verify that the battery type and specifications match your vehicle's requirements.
Tata directs owners to the relevant vehicle owner’s manual for detailed terms and conditions. Its indexed manual listing identifies a Battery Warranty Card, but the full Punch.ev card wording and detailed exclusions are not established here. Do not assume that exclusions from another Tata model or a commercial EV apply to the Punch.ev.

How to raise a battery capacity concern or claim
- Gather the car-specific documents. Find the warranty card and owner’s manual, then note the model/pack, first registration date, current odometer, owner type and any transfer history.
- Request an SOH inspection. Contact a Tata EV authorised service centre if capacity or range has degraded. Tata’s indexed manual guidance directs owners to an authorised service centre for an SOH check.
- Get collision-related damage inspected. If the vehicle has been in a collision, Tata’s indexed manual recommends an authorised dealer inspection for possible high-voltage battery disconnection or damage.
- Ask how the assessment relates to your warranty. Request an explanation of the measured SOH and how it maps to the terms applicable to your vehicle. Tata’s summary leaves the capacity decision and choice of repair or replacement to its assessment.
- Keep the records. Retain the warranty card, service history, registration and transfer documents, and inspection report. Confirm with Tata what documents it requires for your specific case.

Quick Recap
Questions to settle before relying on a warranty term
- Is the car a Punch.ev 40 or an earlier version, and what battery pack does it have?
- What warranty term is recorded on its own Battery Warranty Card?
- Is it the first registration, or has ownership changed—and was the transfer notified?
- Was it registered and used in a category eligible for lifetime cover?
- What SOH did the authorised service centre measure, and what remedy does Tata consider applicable?
