CarDekho’s figures are a New Delhi snapshot, while ZigWheels’ page is a third-party listing updated September 25, 2026. Neither should be treated as a single national on-road price. State taxes and insurance can change the amount substantially.
Why published prices conflict
MG Motor India’s announcement listed four ZS EV variants at ₹18.98 lakh (Executive), ₹19.98 lakh (Excite Pro), ₹23.98 lakh (Exclusive Plus) and ₹24.98 lakh (Essence). The newer third-party starting price is lower than that announcement snapshot, illustrating why an announcement price and a later listing should not be mixed as though they were from the same date or sale.
Tata Group’s January 2026 review states an entry price of ₹21.49 lakh and a range up to ₹28.99 lakh for the trims it discusses, whereas the newer comparison page lists ₹21.79 lakh as the base. Tata’s own pricing page advises buyers to consult an authorised dealer for current feature and specification information. Treat the city, date and variant as part of every price.

What to put in your budget
- Request an itemised quotation showing ex-showroom price, registration or road tax, insurance, fast-charger or home-charger costs, installation and accessories.
- Ask whether the quoted car is the exact battery and equipment level you want; “starting at” prices can refer to a different trim from the one shown in an advertisement.
- Check delivery timing and whether a promotional price is conditional on finance, exchange or a limited period.
- Compare the total cash required and the monthly payment, not only the headline ex-showroom number.
Battery, range and charging
Battery size and published range
MG Motor India specifies a 50.3 kWh prismatic-cell battery and a 461 km certified range for the ZS EV. Tata Group specifies 65 kWh and 75 kWh batteries for the Harrier.ev, with up to 627 km claimed range for the 75 kWh version. ZigWheels lists 538 km for the 65 kWh base configuration.
“Certified” and “claimed” are not promises of everyday distance. Certification follows a test procedure; the result can differ from what you achieve in traffic. The available material does not provide a controlled, same-route, same-speed real-world test of both vehicles. Do not use the 461 km, 538 km or 627 km figures as though they were directly comparable practical ranges.

A 7.2 kW home AC charger is a relevant setup for the Harrier.ev. Before installation, confirm the connector, electrical supply, earthing, sanctioned load, cable route and vehicle compatibility. The same checks apply to any ZS EV home-charging arrangement; the dealer or charger installer should confirm the vehicle-specific requirements.

What changes real-world range
- High motorway speeds generally consume more energy than urban driving.
- Heat, heavy rain or cold conditions can reduce efficiency and increase climate-control use.
- Passengers, luggage, hills, tyre pressure and aggressive acceleration all affect consumption.
- Plan long trips around working public chargers and a reserve rather than the dashboard’s maximum estimate.
Driving hardware and size-related trade-offs
Harrier.ev rear-wheel drive and QWD
Tata Group describes standard Harrier.ev variants as rear-wheel drive with a permanent-magnet synchronous motor. Higher-spec versions add a front induction motor and are called QWD. The 65 kWh configuration shown in the comparison listing is rear-wheel drive. QWD is therefore a variant-specific option, not a feature fitted to every Harrier.ev.

ZS EV: simpler budget decision
The ZS EV’s strongest argument is financial: its lower listed entry point leaves more room in the budget for home-charging work, insurance or a higher trim. Its 50.3 kWh pack and 461 km certified range may suit a predictable commute and occasional longer trips when charging is available. Confirm the drivetrain and equipment of the exact MG variant rather than assuming that every ZS EV carries identical features.

Body and daily manoeuvrability
The Harrier.ev is positioned as the larger SUV. That can provide the road presence and cabin or luggage space some families want, but it can also make narrow parking spaces, older apartment ramps and crowded streets more demanding. Measure your parking bay and check turning clearance before buying. A longer trip range does not compensate for a vehicle that is awkward to charge or park at home.

In a January 2026 review, Prashant Singh, Editor of HT Auto, noted that rear-seat recline adjustment was absent, Summon Mode was not entirely seamless and brake-pedal feedback could be better. Those are the reviewer’s driving impressions, not independent laboratory measurements, and they may not apply identically to every version or software update.

MG Motor India’s announcement lists more than 75 connected features and Level 2 ADAS. Because connected functions and driver-assistance features can vary by trim, ask for a written feature list for Executive, Excite Pro, Exclusive Plus or Essence before comparing a ZS EV with a Harrier.ev quotation. Also ask which functions require a phone connection, subscription or a functioning mobile network.

When neither headline range should decide the purchase
If you cannot install dependable home or workplace charging, first map the public chargers on your normal routes and overnight destinations. A vehicle with a larger battery still requires reliable access to electricity.
