1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteShort answer: Tata EV home charging can use a 3.3 kW AC wall box, a 7.2 kW AC wall box, or a model-specific portable charger. A 7.2 kW unit is practical only when your home has adequate sanctioned and connected load, suitable wiring, grounding and protection. Tata’s complimentary installation scope is conditional: for an eligible variant with a home charger, it covers one survey, one installation and commissioning visit, and up to 15 metres of cable within one year of purchase. Earthing, civil work, extra cable and any supply upgrade can still cost extra.
Exact charger prices and a national installed-cost figure are not published as one universal Tata price. Your real budget depends on the vehicle variant, what is included, cable distance, electrical upgrades and site work. Use a written, vehicle-specific quote and have a qualified electrician or Tata-authorized installation partner verify the connection before charging.

What a Tata EV home-charging setup includes
A safe home installation has four practical parts:
- A charger confirmed for your exact Tata model and variant.
- A protected electrical circuit from the meter or distribution board to the parking position.
- A cable route, conduit and mounting arrangement that suit the building and parking bay.
- Grounding, residual-current protection, commissioning checks and operating instructions.
Tata’s support information identifies a 3.3 kW Legrand wall box, a 7.2 kW Exicom AC fast charger and a portable charging gun as relevant options. Hardware, inclusion, availability and fitment vary by model, variant, purchase date and site, so a charger shown in another model’s brochure is not proof that it is supplied with yours.
Charger options
| Option | Rated power | Typical use | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| AC wall box | 3.3 kW | Permanent home charging where a lower-power circuit is more suitable | Exact fitment and inclusion are variant-specific |
| AC wall box | 7.2 kW | Faster home charging when the electrical supply can support it | Needs the dedicated supply arrangement and load described below; it may reduce output if supply is insufficient |
| Portable charger | 15A portable charging option on relevant models | Occasional or flexible charging from an approved outlet | Charging speed is much lower than a 7.2 kW wall box and the outlet must be correctly grounded and certified |
How to choose between 3.3 kW and 7.2 kW
Start with the vehicle, not the charger label. Confirm the battery variant, the charger supplied or offered with it, and the charging times stated for that exact configuration. Then compare your available load, parking location and installation route. A 7.2 kW charger is not automatically better if the property needs an expensive load upgrade, has a long cable route or cannot provide the required dedicated phase. A 3.3 kW wall box or portable unit may be the more practical choice for a lower-use car or a constrained electrical connection.

Check these details before booking installation
- Identify the exact car. Record the model, battery size, variant and purchase date. Ask the dealer or Tata for the current vehicle-specific home-charger terms instead of relying on an older advertisement or another model’s brochure.
- Confirm what is supplied. Get the charger model, power rating, cable length, mounting hardware and warranty terms in writing. Tata’s support FAQ describes the 3.3 kW wall box, 7.2 kW AC fast charger and portable gun, but the relevant item depends on the variant.
- Request a site survey. Show the installer the meter or distribution board, the intended parking bay, the proposed cable route, wall material, conduit path and any shared-building restrictions.
- Check sanctioned and connected load. Ask your electricity distribution company (DISCOM) or electrician what load is sanctioned, what is currently connected and whether the proposed charger can run without nuisance tripping or an upgrade.
- Get a written scope. The quote should separate charger price, included installation, cable length, extra-cable rate, earthing, civil work, protection devices and any DISCOM charge.
- Plan access and records. Ensure the installer can reach the meter and parking space, and keep the survey, commissioning report, invoices and warranty documents.
Electrical requirements for a 7.2 kW wall box
Tata states that full 7.2 kW output requires either a dedicated single-phase connection or a three-phase connection with one phase dedicated to EV charging. It recommends connected load above 7.2 kW. If a single-phase supply cannot provide the required power, the charger will automatically reduce its output rather than delivering the full rating.
For a shared three-phase arrangement, Tata recommends a dedicated meter or an exclusively dedicated phase for EV charging. Do not assume that a three-phase service makes every phase-sharing arrangement acceptable; the installer must verify feeder size, wiring, protection and phase loading.

If your home load is too low
Ask the trained installation technician and your local DISCOM whether you need load enhancement or a three-phase connection. There is no single national Tata fee or completion time for this work: charges, documents and schedules depend on the utility and property. Obtain the utility estimate separately from the charger installation quote.
Why the charger may charge slowly
An undersized or constrained supply can cause automatic power reduction. Long cable runs, voltage drop, shared household loads, unsuitable protection or poor connections can also prevent the charger from operating at its rated output. A lower displayed power is not necessarily a charger fault; have the installer measure the supply and confirm the configured limit before replacing hardware.
Apartment and society installations
Tata says apartment owners should obtain a No Objection Certificate from the society authorities and share it with the installation partner. Before scheduling work, confirm:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- That the parking bay is assigned to you and may be used for EV charging.
- Who controls the meter, distribution board and common-area walls or ceilings.
- Whether the cable may cross common areas and what conduit or fire-safety rules apply.
- How electricity consumption will be metered and billed if the charger is not connected to your private meter.
- Who is responsible for future access, repairs and removal if you move.
Approval should cover the practical cable route, not just permission in principle. A society can approve a charger while still requiring a different conduit path, dedicated meter or civil-restoration method.

What “free installation” covers—and what it does not
Current complimentary scope described by Tata
Tata’s charging support FAQ says complimentary installation is available for up to one year after purchase when the vehicle variant comes with a home charger. The described package includes:
- One site survey.
- One installation and commissioning visit.
- Up to 15 metres of cabling.
Cable beyond 15 metres is chargeable at Tata Power’s standard rates. Earthing and civil work are explicitly excluded. Therefore, “free installation” means the stated service scope, not a promise that every site will require no additional payment.
Items that can add to the bill
- Extra cable beyond the included 15 metres.
- Earthing or improvement of an inadequate earth connection.
- Wall, floor or trench work, conduit changes, drilling, restoration or other civil work.
- Load enhancement, a new meter or a three-phase connection requested by the utility.
- Electrical protection or wiring changes identified during the survey.
The official material does not publish one current standalone retail price for every 3.3 kW or 7.2 kW charger, nor one installed total for every Indian city. Any figure that ignores variant inclusion, cable distance, earthing and supply work can be misleading.
How to build a reliable budget
- Ask whether the charger is included in your vehicle variant or must be purchased separately.
- Request the current charger price and installation scope in writing.
- Have the site survey measure the actual cable route, not a straight-line estimate.
- Request separate prices for cable beyond 15 metres, earthing, civil work and protective equipment.
- Obtain any DISCOM estimate for load or phase changes directly from the utility.
- Confirm taxes, commissioning, travel and repeat-visit charges before approving the work.
Tata issued a 2025 press release describing a limited-time promotion that included free installation of a 7.2 kW AC home fast charger. That historical offer shows that benefits can change; it is not evidence that the same promotion applies to a 2026 purchase. Check the current dealer offer and support terms for your vehicle.

Safety basics before, during and after charging
Use the owner manual for your exact model
The cited Tigor EV owner manual is model- and year-specific, so follow the manual supplied with your car if it differs. Its central instruction is: Charging should be done in Ignition OFF state.
Before connecting
- Switch the ignition off.
- Check that the socket, charging gun, vehicle charging port and your hands are dry.
- Do not use a damaged cable, plug, gun or connector.
- Ensure the domestic outlet and charging station have been approved or certified by a qualified electrician.
- Verify proper grounding and a residual-current circuit device (RCD).
- Keep the charger, connector and cable away from standing water, heat sources and vehicle traffic.
While charging
- Use only the charger and connection arrangement approved for your vehicle.
- Do not use improvised extension leads, loose adapters or a visibly hot or damaged outlet.
- Keep the cable fully supported and protected from crushing, sharp edges and trip hazards.
- If the RCD trips, the plug or cable heats excessively, or you smell burning, stop charging and isolate the circuit if it is safe to do so. Do not repeatedly reset the protection or continue using the equipment until it has been inspected.
Earthing and professional installation
Tata’s installation FAQ calls proper earthing essential and excludes it from the complimentary scope. Its technician can guide you on arranging earthing through a licensed electrician and verifying it during installation. Use the authorized installation route or another qualified electrical professional who can document the measurements, protection and commissioning checks; EV charging places a sustained load on the circuit.
Warranty, commissioning and records
Tata states a three-year warranty for both wall-box chargers and portable charger guns, measured from commissioning at the customer location. Keep the commissioning date because it establishes the warranty start point. Retain the charger serial number, installation report, survey notes, invoices, protection-test results and any utility approval.

Common installation problems and what to do
The dealer says installation is free, but the site quote has extra charges
Ask the installer to map each charge to the written scope: extra cable, earthing, civil work, protection, repeat visit or utility work. The complimentary package covers only the stated survey, one installation and commissioning visit, and up to 15 metres of cable for an eligible vehicle and time window.
The 7.2 kW charger never reaches 7.2 kW
Have the technician check sanctioned and connected load, phase allocation, voltage under load, feeder size and the charger’s configured limit. Tata allows automatic power reduction when a single-phase supply is insufficient. Do not increase a breaker rating without verifying the cable and upstream protection.
The parking bay is too far from the meter
Measure the complete safe route, including vertical runs and bends. Compare the charge for cable beyond 15 metres with the cost and feasibility of relocating the charger or obtaining a dedicated connection. A shorter route is useful only if it remains protected, accessible and approved by the property owner or society.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
The apartment society has not approved the work
Obtain the NOC before booking installation and submit the proposed route, charger location, meter arrangement and restoration responsibilities. Ask the installation partner what documents the society needs.
The portable charger trips the outlet
Stop using that outlet. A qualified electrician should inspect the socket, earth continuity, RCD, wiring and circuit loading. Do not substitute a higher-rated fuse or use an extension cable as a workaround.
A practical decision checklist
- Choose 7.2 kW when the vehicle supports it, your connected load is above 7.2 kW, a dedicated single-phase connection or dedicated three-phase phase is available, and the faster charging time justifies any site work.
- Choose 3.3 kW when overnight charging is sufficient or the property cannot economically support a 7.2 kW circuit.
- Choose portable charging when flexibility matters and you have an approved, grounded 15A outlet, while accepting substantially longer charging times on models such as the Curvv.ev.
- Delay purchase until the survey if the parking route, society permission, earthing or utility load is uncertain.
Before paying for equipment, obtain a vehicle-specific written quote, verify the electrical supply and confirm exactly what Tata or the installation partner will commission. That process prevents the most common surprises: a charger that is not included, a cable route longer than the complimentary allowance, an unpriced earthing job or a 7.2 kW unit that must run below its rated output.
