TAG Heuer returned as Formula 1’s Official Timekeeper for the 2025 season, with the series announcing the appointment on 6 January 2025. The Canadian Grand Prix followed on 13–15 June in Montréal, but the available announcements describe season-wide plans rather than confirming a specific TAG Heuer activation at that race.
What TAG Heuer’s 2025 return means
Formula 1 announced TAG Heuer’s return as Official Timekeeper from the 2025 season on 6 January. The announcement linked the appointment to the start of Formula 1’s ten-year global partnership with LVMH and the championship’s 75th anniversary. It was a championship-wide role, not an announcement of a Canada-only partnership.
Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said: “I am delighted to welcome TAG Heuer as the Official Timekeeper of Formula 1 as they start the next stage of their long history in our sport.” TAG Heuer CEO Antoine Pin said: “In a sport defined by mental resilience, physical strength, strategy, innovation and performance it is only natural for TAG Heuer to be at the very heart of Formula 1 as Official Timekeeper.” Formula 1’s announcement sets out the appointment and the comments.
How the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix fits the timeline
The Formula 1 Pirelli Grand Prix du Canada took place at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montréal from 13 to 15 June 2025. George Russell won the 70-lap race, with Max Verstappen second and Kimi Antonelli third. The race was one event in the season covered by TAG Heuer’s timekeeping appointment.

What is confirmed about TAG Heuer activity at the race?
Formula 1’s announcement described plans for trackside branding, Fan Zone and Paddock Club activations, and new product ranges. TAG Heuer later described pit-lane clocks and Monaco clocks for the 2025 season. These accounts establish season-wide activity, but they do not identify a particular display or activation at the Canadian Grand Prix. It would therefore be too strong to claim that a named TAG Heuer installation appeared in Montréal based on these sources.

This distinction matters: a season-wide official role does not, by itself, document what was installed or activated at each individual race. TAG Heuer’s Formula 1 partnership page describes the brand’s partnership context.
TAG Heuer’s earlier Formula 1 timekeeping tenure
TAG Heuer’s own historical account dates its previous tenure as Formula 1 Official Timekeeper to 1992–2003. The brand also describes a wider motorsport history, including Heuer’s work with Ferrari beginning in 1971 and later team partnerships with McLaren and Red Bull. Team associations and championship timekeeping are separate roles: the former involve individual teams, while Official Timekeeper is a Formula 1-wide designation.
For context, Formula 1’s January 2025 announcement attributed 230 wins, 595 podiums, 11 constructors’ championships and 14 drivers’ championships to TAG Heuer’s various team associations. Those figures concern the brand’s team relationships, not results produced by its timekeeper role. TAG Heuer’s account of its motorsport history is available in its Formula 1 partnership history.

Official timekeeping for the championship should not be confused with TAG Heuer’s consumer watches bearing the Formula 1 collection name. A 2025 TAG Heuer collection brochure documents a 38 mm Formula 1 Solargraph watch collection with different case and bracelet or strap options. That brochure describes retail products; it does not establish the equipment used to time races, confirm a watch worn by a driver at the Canadian Grand Prix, or show current marketplace stock.

Why the partnership mattered to Formula 1
The appointment placed a familiar motorsport name in a championship-wide role during a milestone season. Formula 1’s announcement connected the return to its 75th anniversary and LVMH partnership. A separate 2025 corporate release from Formula One World Championship Limited stated that the 2024 season reached 1.5 billion viewers. That is Formula 1’s own audience figure, not an independently measured estimate in the cited material. Formula 1’s 2024 season report provides the organization’s figures.
