The 129 MWp facility was already operating: it began operations at the end of June. Taaleri expects it to generate about 140 GWh of electricity a year.
What Hallanvahti is and where it is located
Hallanvahti is a utility-scale solar park about 6.5 kilometres from Joroinen in North Savo, Finland. Its public inauguration marked the opening of an operating project, not the beginning of electricity production. Taaleri Energia described it as “one of Finland’s largest solar power plants”; a broader national ranking cannot be established without a current comparison using a clearly defined category.
The park is owned in full by funds managed by Taaleri Energia. It was developed with Etec Automation and its subsidiary 3Flash Finland, while Eltel Networks was contracted as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor. Taaleri’s 5 October 2026 announcement gives the current operating status and project figures; its Hallanvahti project profile provides additional project background.

Bifacial panels can collect light on both sides, while trackers move panels to follow the sun. The figures above are from Taaleri Energia’s inauguration announcement. An earlier project profile lists 206,000 panels and a planned mid-2026 completion, reflecting an earlier planning version. For the operating plant’s reported panel count and status, the October 2026 announcement is the current source.

Why the peatland location is notable
The park occupies around 200 hectares of wet peatland. The Hallanvahti project website describes peat depths ranging from 500 mm to 7,000 mm and says the project aims to preserve the peat layer and manage water flows during construction and operation. Those are project-site descriptions and stated intentions, not independent verification of environmental outcomes.
How the project reached operation
Taaleri SolarWind III invested in Hallanvahti in February 2025, when the project was under construction and full operations were forecast for mid-2026. The October 2026 inauguration announcement supersedes that forecast by reporting that operations began at June’s end. The 2025 investment announcement also names Etec Automation and 3Flash Finland as development partners and Eltel Networks as EPC contractor.

Taaleri Energia Managing Director Kai Rintala called Hallanvahti “a particularly significant project for us in Finland due to its ambitious scale, technology and rapid delivery schedule.” This is the company’s assessment of the project. The earlier 2025 investment announcement estimated annual avoided emissions at approximately 29,300 tonnes of CO₂; that figure was a forecast, not a measured result, and was not repeated in the October 2026 inauguration release.
The public opening event was scheduled for 5 October 2026 at Viholanniementie 132 in Joroinen. That event date has passed.
