SwitchLabs says its order book has passed 450 electric heavy-duty trucks, but that figure includes trucks that are signed, under deployment or still in the pipeline—not 450 trucks already on the road. In a company-supplied release distributed by Business Standard on October 6, 2026, SwitchLabs reported about 70 operational trucks and set a target of around 500 by the end of FY2027.
What does SwitchLabs’ 450-plus order book include?
The 450-plus figure is SwitchLabs’ broad order-book count, covering trucks that are signed, under deployment or in the pipeline. The October 6, 2026 announcement does not break the total down by status, customer or expected deployment date. It should not be read as a count of delivered or operating trucks. The figure comes from a company-supplied press release distributed by Business Standard; it is not an independently verified fleet tally.
How many SwitchLabs trucks are operating, and what are its targets?
SwitchLabs reported about 70 operational trucks when it made the October 2026 announcement, up from one operational truck in October 2025. It set an interim target of 250 trucks by December 2026 and said it aims to have around 500 by the end of FY2027. The release also describes a target to add around 450 trucks to the operating fleet by March 2027. These are company-reported figures and goals, not independently confirmed deployment outcomes. The release does not define the precise fiscal-year end date, so the March 2027 target is the clearer calendar reference it provides.

What is included in SwitchLabs’ truck-as-a-service offer?
SwitchLabs describes its enterprise service as combining electric trucks with charging and energy infrastructure, fleet operations, technology and carbon reporting. Its website lists three commercial models: pay per ton, pay per kilometre and fixed monthly rental. The release also says SwitchLabs has more than 250 truck lease commitments, but does not name the counterparties or explain how those commitments relate to the 450-plus order book. It projects monthly revenue growth of 8–10× and an approximately ₹300 crore annualized revenue run-rate at scale; the release does not provide the baseline monthly revenue or assumptions behind those projections.
How does the separate 150-truck Tata agreement fit in?
In August 2026, Tata Motors, DRIVN and SwitchLabs agreed to commission 150 electric heavy-duty trucks, with Tata supplying the trucks and SwitchLabs operating them, according to Electrive’s report. The report does not establish whether, or how many of, those trucks are included in SwitchLabs’ 450-plus order book. The companies had not disclosed the project’s exact truck models, operating locations, value or key operating details. Tata’s Prima E.28K and E.55S are mentioned as available models, not as confirmed configurations for this agreement.

A separate historical example comes from an eFAST India case study published in May 2025. It describes a SwitchLabs route deployment using an IPL Tech Rhino 5536, a dedicated charger and a fixed route; charging time varied during the pilot because of amperage fluctuations. That case offers an earlier operational example, but it does not verify the later order-book count or targets.

SwitchLabs said deploying the 450 trucks would save approximately 50,000 tonnes of CO₂e, but the release gives no calculation method, baseline, time period, route assumptions or electricity mix. Treat this as a company estimate rather than an established emissions outcome.
