Yes—Suzuki has announced 2026 sales for its updated GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R, with regional plans now confirmed for Japan, the UK, Germany and the Netherlands. When is the updated Suzuki GSX-R1000R coming?
Suzuki Motor Corporation announced on July 31, 2025, that worldwide sales—including Europe and North America—would begin in 2026. Subsequent regional announcements add more specific timing: Japan sales start July 17, 2026; Suzuki Deutschland said the 40th Anniversary Edition would be available in summer 2026; and Suzuki Nederland expected first dealer deliveries in summer 2026. Suzuki Press UK announced the model’s 2026 return as a 40th Anniversary Edition, without specifying an individual dealer’s stock date.
These are manufacturer-announced plans, not confirmation that a specific showroom has a bike available. What is new about the GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R?
This is an extensive update to Suzuki’s GSX-R1000 line, not an entirely new model family. Suzuki says it revised engine components—including the injectors, cylinder heads, camshafts, valves, pistons and crankshafts—to meet emissions and noise requirements while maintaining performance and improving durability. Maximum valve lift is unchanged, while the revised lift curve reduces camshaft overlap. Suzuki also widened the cam chain and revised the exhaust and catalytic-converter layout. The European-specification GSX-R1000R is a 999.8 cm³ liquid-cooled DOHC inline-four. Suzuki’s European specification lists a 203 kg curb mass, 825 mm seat height and 16.0 L fuel tank. What electronics and equipment are included?
Suzuki describes Anti-lift control, Roll Torque control and traction control as coordinated Smart TLR functions. The published specification also lists three Suzuki Drive Mode Selector settings, ride-by-wire, bidirectional quick shift, Motion Track Brake System, Slope Dependent Control, Easy Start and Low RPM Assist. Carbon-fiber winglets are not universal equipment: Suzuki says they are accessories in some cases and standard in certain regions. The German recommended retail price and Dutch ready-to-ride figure are not directly comparable: they are different market price bases, and the Dutch price explicitly includes winglets. What does the 40th anniversary mark?
Suzuki’s 40th-anniversary designation marks the 1985 launch of the first-generation GSX-R750. The company says the GSX-R series has produced more than 1.2 million GSX-R1100, 1000, 750, 600, 150 and 125 motorcycles combined, and credits the series with 20 FIM Endurance World Championship titles. Those are series-wide figures, not GSX-R1000 sales or titles.
