Choose the 2025 Suzuki SV650 ABS if a lower seat and lighter listed curb weight are your priorities. Choose the 2026 Kawasaki Versys 650 LT ABS if you want a more touring-oriented package with hard saddlebags, a larger listed fuel tank, and adjustable windshield height. These are different model years and the Kawasaki is the LT trim, so the listed prices are not a controlled same-year, same-trim comparison.

Which bike is easier to manage at a standstill?
The SV650 ABS has a 30.9-inch listed seat height, 2.4 inches lower than the Versys LT’s 33.3 inches. Its listed curb weight is also 45.9 lb less. Those figures make the Suzuki the more promising starting point for riders who value a lower seat or less weight when parking, backing up, or maneuvering slowly.

Specifications cannot determine how securely a particular rider can put a foot down or how a motorcycle will feel in motion. Seat shape, inseam, boots, suspension sag, and balance all matter. Sit on both bikes, ideally in riding gear, and assess footing and low-speed control before deciding.
Which is better for commuting, day rides, or touring?
For commuting and shorter rides
The SV’s lower seat and lighter listed curb weight may suit riders who frequently deal with parking lots, tight spaces, or stop-and-go use. That is a fit-and-maneuvering consideration, not proof that it is more comfortable or easier to ride in every situation.

For touring with luggage
The Versys 650 LT’s U.S. specification lists clean-mount hard saddlebags, a 5.5-US-gallon tank, and adjustable windshield height. That makes its touring equipment more explicit in the listed package. The SV’s manufacturer page says genuine accessories are available, but does not establish a standard luggage setup.
The tank figures indicate capacity, not riding range. The cited specifications do not establish comparable fuel economy or real-world range, so do not use tank size alone to predict how far either motorcycle will travel between stops.

Do their engines make one a clear performance winner?
No conclusion about which is faster, smoother, more exciting, or more economical follows from displacement and engine layout alone. Suzuki specifies a 645 cc V-twin for the SV650; Kawasaki specifies a 649 cc parallel twin for the Versys. The cited pages do not provide a comparable measured horsepower figure or a common ride test.
Kawasaki’s 2026 U.S. sheet lists maximum torque of 45.0 lb-ft at 7,000 rpm for the Versys LT, but there is no directly comparable Suzuki torque figure established here. Kawasaki UK’s 2025 page lists 61.0 N·m at 7,000 rpm and an 845 mm seat height; those are UK-market figures and should not be mixed into this U.S. comparison. Kawasaki UK’s 2025 Versys 650 page.

How should you compare their prices?
The manufacturer-published U.S. base MSRP is $8,049 for the 2025 SV650 ABS, while the 2026 Versys 650 LT ABS sheet lists $10,399. Because the model years differ and the Kawasaki is specifically the LT trim, the $2,350 gap is not a same-year, same-trim comparison of base models. MSRP excludes taxes, title, registration, and dealer charges; get local out-the-door quotes for the exact year and trim you are considering.
Prices, trim contents, regional specifications, and inventory can change. Confirm the current listing with a dealer and compare equivalent model years and equipment wherever possible.

How to make the final choice
- Check fit first. Sit on both motorcycles and see how the seat height, shape, reach, and balance work for your body.
- Picture your routine. Consider whether lower weight and easier parking or built-in touring luggage and windscreen adjustment matter more in your typical riding.
- Compare the exact versions. Match model year, trim, included equipment, and local out-the-door price; the specifications above are not a like-for-like year-and-trim matchup.
- Arrange a safe evaluation. If available, use a dealer-approved ride or other appropriate evaluation to judge handling and comfort rather than inferring them from specifications. Wear a helmet, eye protection, and proper apparel, as Kawasaki advises on its 2026 specification sheet, and follow the owner’s manual and local licensing requirements.
Suzuki’s 2026 SV650 ABS brochure corroborates the 645 cc V-twin and 30.9-inch seat height for that newer brochure, but it does not update the 2025 price shown above.
