Suzuki Gixxer: current listing and dealer route
Suzuki Motorcycle India currently presents the naked Gixxer 155 in its India range. Suzuki’s buyer journey includes a dealer quotation route and test-ride access, which makes it the straightforward option when you want a new motorcycle with a current sales channel. Availability, colours, registration charges, and delivery timing still vary by city and dealer, so treat the online listing as a starting point rather than a guaranteed stock statement.
Honda X-Blade: reported discontinued, but check for old stock
Secondary comparison and specification pages report that the X-Blade has been discontinued. The available evidence does not include an official Honda discontinuation announcement or a reliable nationwide stock count. A Honda dealer may therefore have an unsold, registered, or unregistered older motorcycle, but you should verify its manufacturing date, warranty start date, registration status, and eligibility for finance and insurance before treating it as “new.”
If a dealer offers an X-Blade, ask for the vehicle identification number, manufacturing month and year, invoice status, warranty terms, and a written quotation. Compare that total with a current Gixxer quote; an old-stock discount is meaningful only after you account for the bike’s age and any registration already attached to it.

Peak-power units are not identical in presentation: Honda publishes kilowatts, while Suzuki publishes PS. The approximate PS conversion in the table is arithmetic, not a separate Honda performance test. Published figures also do not establish road speed or overtaking ability.
What those numbers mean on the road
Engine output: torque versus power
The X-Blade has the larger displacement and a quoted 14.7 Nm at 5,500 rpm, compared with the Gixxer’s 13.8 Nm at 6,000 rpm. On paper, that gives the Honda a torque advantage of 0.9 Nm and a lower stated peak-torque speed. The Gixxer’s listed peak power is 13.6 PS at 8,000 rpm, while the X-Blade’s 10.2 kW converts to about 13.87 PS at the same engine speed.
These are peak points, not a complete torque curve. They cannot tell you which bike feels stronger at every rpm, climbs a particular hill faster, or uses less fuel. Ride both motorcycles, if possible, with the same rider and similar traffic before drawing a performance conclusion.
Weight and manoeuvrability
The Gixxer’s listed 141 kg is 2 kg lighter than the X-Blade single-disc version and 3 kg lighter than the double-disc version. That is a small brochure difference. Where the mass sits, the condition of the tires, steering bearings, and suspension, and your own strength affect parking and low-speed balance more than the headline number. A test ride through a tight turn, a U-turn, and a stop-start lane is more informative than assuming the lighter bike will automatically feel easier.

Seat height and fuel capacity
Both brochures list a 795 mm seat height and a 12-litre tank. A shared seat-height number does not guarantee identical reach: seat width, cushioning, rider inseam, and suspension sag change how much of your foot reaches the ground. Sit on the actual motorcycle in riding shoes and practice moving it backward with both feet planted. The equal tank capacities also do not establish equal range because consumption and usable reserve vary by engine condition, traffic, and riding style.
Brakes and the X-Blade variant issue
Honda’s brochure describes a 276 mm front disc with single-channel ABS and rear drum and disc options. The single-disc X-Blade is listed at 143 kg; the double-disc version is 144 kg. Confirm which rear-brake configuration you are viewing, because parts, insurance descriptions, and used-bike pricing should match the recorded variant. Suzuki states a disc front brake with single-channel ABS for the Gixxer series in the cited brochure.
Choose according to your buying situation
You want a new commuter-sport motorcycle now
Choose the Gixxer as the default starting point because it has a current manufacturer listing and a defined dealer/test-ride route. This is a market-availability decision, not a claim that its engine is categorically superior. Obtain an on-road quotation that itemises ex-showroom price, registration, insurance, taxes, accessories, and any dealer fees. Confirm that the quoted motorcycle is the naked Gixxer 155 rather than the Gixxer SF or Gixxer 250.
You found an unregistered X-Blade at a dealer
Do not pay a “new-bike” price solely because the odometer is low. Check the manufacturing date, battery and tire dates, fluid condition, warranty commencement, and whether the motorcycle has ever been registered. Ask Honda to confirm in writing what parts and warranty support apply to that VIN. Compare the complete, post-discount cost with the new Gixxer available in your city.

You are shopping in the used market
Give each candidate a condition-adjusted price. A clean X-Blade with complete records may be the better buy if its larger engine and torque suit you, while a neglected Gixxer is not a bargain merely because the model remains current. Conversely, a well-maintained Gixxer with nearby support can be less risky than an X-Blade that needs uncommon parts. The evidence available here does not establish typical used prices, depreciation, or a nationwide parts inventory.
You mainly ride in heavy city traffic
Prioritise smooth clutch operation, predictable low-speed control, cooling-system and electrical condition, tire grip, and brake feel on the actual bike. Neither the brochure power figures nor the tank size predicts your fuel bill in congested traffic. A short stop-start test ride with a cold start is more useful than a generic mileage claim.
You regularly use highways or carry a passenger
Check how each motorcycle fits you and your passenger, how confidently it holds a line, and whether the controls remain comfortable after an extended ride. The published torque and power figures can help frame expectations, but they do not substitute for a supervised ride on the roads you actually use. Inspect the passenger seat, grab area, tire load condition, and suspension for wear on a used example.

- Verify identity and paperwork. Match the registration certificate, vehicle identification number, engine number, seller identity, insurance, and service invoices. Confirm the recorded displacement and variant; this prevents an X-Blade rear-brake mismatch or a Gixxer SF/250 being represented as a naked Gixxer 155.
- Inspect the frame and body in daylight. Look for uneven panel gaps, fresh paint, bent levers, scraped engine cases, cracked mounts, and weld marks around the headstock and swingarm. Cosmetic damage is not proof of a bent frame, but it tells you where to request a professional inspection.

- Test every control. Operate the clutch through its travel, select all gears, test both brakes progressively, and confirm the ABS warning sequence behaves normally for that model. Check switches, lights, horn, instrument display, fuel gauge, and starter operation.
- Inspect for neglected service. Compare odometer reading with invoice dates, tire wear, grip wear, seat condition, and chain/sprocket wear. Inconsistent evidence should reduce your offer or end the inspection.
- Use an independent mechanic. Have a qualified technician check compression or diagnostic data where appropriate, steering-head bearings, wheel alignment, suspension, chassis straightness, and signs of water damage. The inspection fee is small compared with correcting a poorly repaired motorcycle.
- Price the repairs before negotiating. Add immediate tires, battery, fluids, chain kit, brake parts, insurance, transfer charges, and any known service. Compare that total with another candidate and with the current Gixxer’s local on-road price.
A repeatable test-ride method
- Ride only after confirming legal documents, a safe route, and permission from the owner or dealer.
- Begin with a cold-start observation and a slow straight-line brake check in a safe area.
- Use first through fifth gears at normal traffic speeds. Note clutch take-up, false neutrals, vibration, throttle response, and whether the engine hesitates under gentle acceleration.
- Perform controlled U-turns and parking manoeuvres. Compare steering effort and your ability to put a foot down; do not infer this from the identical 795 mm seat-height figures.
- On a clear road, make a smooth roll-on in the mid-range rather than attempting an unsafe top-speed run. Listen for knocks and watch for warning lights.
- Repeat braking with increasing pressure while keeping the motorcycle upright. ABS operation should be checked only where it is safe and legal, preferably with dealer guidance.
- After the ride, inspect for fresh oil or coolant traces, overheating indications, and a fan or electrical smell. Ask the seller what changed when the engine warmed up.
Price, ownership cost, and quotation discipline
What is known about the new Gixxer price
Suzuki’s Visakhapatnam listing showed an ex-showroom price of ₹1,40,016 when accessed in 2026. That is a city-specific, time-sensitive listing, not an all-India price and not an on-road total. Registration, insurance, taxes, and dealer charges can change the amount you actually pay. Request a dated quotation from the dealer in your city.
What is not established for the X-Blade
No reliable used-value table, local inventory survey, matched fuel-economy test, maintenance-cost study, or current parts-stock report was established for this comparison. Do not treat an old web listing or a generic comparison page as a current market price. Ask multiple local sellers for comparable motorcycles and record manufacturing year, kilometers, ownership count, variant, and immediate repair needs.
Build a total-cost comparison
For each candidate, add the purchase price to transfer fees, insurance renewal, scheduled service, tires, battery, chain and sprockets, brake consumables, and any deferred repair. Use the same assumptions for both motorcycles. A cheaper X-Blade that needs tires, brake work, and paperwork may exceed the cost of a better-maintained Gixxer before the first long ride.

- Calling the X-Blade officially discontinued without qualification. The discontinuation finding comes from secondary sources; ask a Honda dealer about local old stock.
- Comparing the wrong Gixxer. The naked Gixxer 155, faired Gixxer SF, and Gixxer 250 are different motorcycles. Match the exact model and year.
- Assuming more displacement means more speed. The X-Blade’s 162.71 cc engine and higher quoted torque do not prove superior acceleration or refinement.
