Possibly—but Porsche has not confirmed a turbocharged successor in the sources reviewed. The Drive reported on January 22, 2026, that an upcoming GT3 RS would use turbocharging and called it a 2027 model. That is a spy-report claim, not an announced Porsche specification. Porsche’s current GT3 RS remains a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter six-cylinder car.
Is the next Porsche 911 GT3 RS confirmed to be turbocharged?
No. The Drive’s January 22, 2026 report says its reporting confirmed turbocharging on an upcoming car, but the sources reviewed contain no Porsche announcement confirming the successor’s engine. The distinction matters: the turbo claim comes from a media report, while Porsche’s official model page describes the existing GT3 RS as naturally aspirated.
The Drive refers to the spied car as a 2027 model. The assignment’s 2026 wording should not be read as confirmation of a model year: the successor’s final model year and launch timing remain unverified. The Drive anticipated a debut and production around August, but did not establish a confirmed Porsche schedule.
What did the spy report actually observe?
Joel Feder’s report for The Drive described prototypes undergoing cold-weather road testing in Scandinavia. It pointed to several visible changes, while interpreting a whoosh captured in an Instagram video as evidence of boost. That sound is the report’s interpretation, not official confirmation of a turbo engine.

These are observations of camouflaged test cars. Prototype parts can change before production, so they do not establish the successor’s final bodywork, exhaust layout or aerodynamic specification.
What Porsche has documented about the current GT3 RS
Porsche’s international model page describes the road-approved GT3 RS as a track-focused car with a high-revving naturally aspirated engine, active aerodynamics and lightweight construction. Its listed specifications are for the current model, not the rumored successor:

The same page describes automatically adjusting active elements in the front diffuser and rear wing, a Drag Reduction System that reduces drag on straights, and extensive use of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic. Equipment and exact configuration can vary by market. None of these details confirms what the next car will use.
Why the current car’s aero figures are not successor specs
When Porsche launched the current GT3 RS in 2022, it said the large angled central radiator freed space for active aerodynamic elements. Porsche reported 409 kg of total downforce at 200 km/h and 860 kg at 285 km/h for that launch-era car. Those figures belong to the 2022 model and should not be attributed to the spied successor.

Porsche Newsroom described that 2022 car this way: “The new 911 GT3 RS makes no secret of its intentions: it is uncompromisingly designed for maximum performance.” The statement concerns the model launched in 2022; it is not a comment about the rumored turbocharged car.

Without a Porsche announcement, the successor’s final engine, output, performance, production specification, model year and debut date are not established. The spy report offers clues and a turbo interpretation, but no verified successor horsepower or performance figures. Any numbers presented as specifications for the new car would go beyond what these sources support.

For now, the clearest comparison is one of evidence: Porsche documents the existing GT3 RS as naturally aspirated, while The Drive reports that a test car’s successor may be turbocharged. Until Porsche confirms the change, “could go turbo” is more accurate than “is turbocharged.”
