The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe is no longer just a spy-shot subject: Mercedes-Benz officially revealed the refreshed model on March 31, 2026, and its global newsroom said orders opened May 28. Its most obvious change is a new illuminated star in the grille, joined by star-themed headlamp and taillamp details. In the U.S., the GLE 450 4MATIC Coupe is listed with 375 hp and a manufacturer-estimated 0–60 mph time of 4.9 seconds.
What happened to the 2026 GLE Coupe spy shots?
The “spied” framing is now historical. Mercedes-Benz has revealed the production refresh, so the car can be described by its confirmed design and equipment rather than treated as an unrevealed prototype. The manufacturer’s official releases do not identify who took or first published the spy photographs, or when and where they were captured.
Mercedes-Benz characterizes the Coupe as combining coupe styling and agility with the technology and presence of its SUV range. The Coupé has a wheelbase 2.4 inches shorter than the regular GLE SUV, according to the manufacturer; that measurement alone does not establish that one body style is more practical than the other.
What changed in the exterior design?
The refresh puts Mercedes-Benz’s three-pointed star front and center. The larger radiator grille has an illuminated central star, a chrome frame, and optional contour lighting. A revised front fascia adds modified lower air inlets with high-gloss black details and chrome slats.

- Headlamps: Twin-star elements distinguish the updated lighting signature.
- Taillamps: Stylized three-dimensional star motifs carry the theme to the rear.
- Optional DIGITAL LIGHT: Mercedes-Benz says its next-generation micro-LED system creates a lighting field around 40 percent larger, while the light module uses up to 50 percent less energy than its predecessor. Those are manufacturer comparisons, not independent test results.

What is new inside the cabin?
The MBUX Superscreen is standard and places three 12.3-inch displays—including one for the front passenger—beneath a shared glass surface. The updated steering wheel uses a roller for volume and a rocker control for Distance Assist DISTRONIC.
Mercedes-Benz describes MB.OS as the vehicle operating system, supported by a connected supercomputer and over-the-air vehicle-software updates. The new MBUX Virtual Assistant is designed for more complex natural-language dialogue. Mercedes-Benz says this MBUX generation integrates AI from Microsoft, Google and ChatGPT; vendor integration and service availability may vary by market and configuration.

The official information establishes the production design, equipment and the U.S. figures listed above. It does not establish the provenance of the spy photographs. Mercedes-Benz’s global premiere information also described some plug-in-hybrid consumption and emissions values as provisional forecasts without confirmed official test values at that time, so those figures should not be treated as finalized specifications.
Mercedes-Benz USA’s March 31, 2026 release described the model as “uniting the dynamic elegance and agility of a coupe with the high-end technology and commanding presence of the brand’s popular SUV model series.” The statement was issued by the corporate newsroom and did not name an individual speaker.
