Spacecamper’s Classic+ Ford turns the Ford Tourneo Custom passenger van into a four-sleeper camper with a kitchen that swivels toward either sliding door. That lets the same kitchen serve the cabin or an outdoor cooking area—a practical change to how the van uses its limited space, though outdoor cooking remains exposed to the weather.
What is the Spacecamper Classic+ Ford?
The Classic+ Ford is a camper conversion based on the Ford Tourneo Custom, the passenger-van version of the midsize Transit Custom. Spacecamper, previously associated with Volkswagen-based campers, introduced the Ford conversion at the 2024 Düsseldorf Caravan Salon and showed it again at CMT. Its defining idea is an interior arranged to work through the Tourneo Custom’s two sliding doors. Instead of treating the kitchen as a fixed block facing only into the cabin, Spacecamper lets it swivel outward, making the side-door area part of the living space.
How does the swiveling kitchen work?
The kitchen combines indoor cooking and food preparation with a separate setup for cooking outside. The sink is recessed into the block and has a removable Trangia single-burner insert for indoor use. With a sliding door open, the recess may offer some wind protection, but it is not an enclosed cooking space.
A hinged Primus dual-burner camping stove is mounted at the front of the kitchen. It flips up for use when the block is turned toward the exterior. The sink’s wood cover becomes a work surface, while a second hinged wood panel opens into an indoor dining table without needing a telescoping leg.
A 35-litre fridge/freezer sits in a top-loading console behind the kitchen. Its magnetic wood lid can be removed and used as a cutting board. Together, the swiveling block and side doors make cooking possible from inside or outside, rather than simply adding an outdoor stove to a conventional fixed galley.

How many people can sleep in it?
Spacecamper’s reported layout sleeps four across a folding rear bench and the standard pop-up roof. The lower bed measures 138 × 200 cm and can expand to 150 cm wide. The upper bed measures 120 × 200 cm and uses a disc-spring comfort system.
The rear cushions lift to provide access to the cargo area beneath the lower bed, so the sleeping setup does not completely seal off the storage space.

What water, storage and electrical equipment is included?
The reported setup carries 30 litres of fresh water in three individual canisters. At the rear, a two-slide cargo system is designed for Euroboxes, while the lift-up bed cushions provide access to items stored below.
New Atlas lists these items as standard equipment:
- 95-Ah leisure battery and battery-management system
- 230-V shore-power hookup
- Rear cabinet and two-slide cargo system for Euroboxes
- Swivel front seats
- LED light strips and blackout curtains
An outdoor shower sprayer can be paired with an optional water heater. Used with a tailgate privacy tent, it creates a sheltered changing and washing area at the back of the van; it is an outdoor arrangement, not an enclosed bathroom.

How does its layout compare with the Ford Nugget?
The Classic+ Ford and Ford Nugget use the Transit Custom family of vehicles, but the reported layout priorities differ. New Atlas characterizes the Nugget as a three-room layout; Spacecamper instead emphasizes a kitchen that turns toward the sliding doors and makes the exterior an extension of the cooking area. The article does not provide a comprehensive head-to-head specification comparison, so the distinction is best understood as a design emphasis rather than a complete ranking of the two campers.
Spacecamper’s kitchen also separates its cooking surfaces: a removable single burner sits in the sink for indoor use, while the hinged dual-burner stove flips up for outdoor cooking. The wood sink cover and second flip-up panel provide work and dining surfaces without the table leg the article says the design avoids.

What base-vehicle and styling choices are described?
The 2025 feature describes Tourneo Custom choices that include plug-in hybrid, all-electric and all-wheel-drive variants. It also presents the conversion as more rustic and rugged in appearance than the Ford Nugget, pointing to its sharper corners and stainless-steel details, as well as optional real-wood structure and trim.
Optional equipment mentioned includes a suspension lift, off-road tires, larger lithium-battery upgrades and solar charging. The article does not establish which combinations are currently orderable, or whether every listed option is available with every powertrain.
What did the van cost when reported?
New Atlas quoted these starting prices in its February 10, 2025 feature. They are dated reported figures, not current verified offers or quotes:
