The company’s rationale is that the movement lets the saddle support the rider dynamically and shifts pressure from the sit bones toward the femurs. Those are design explanations and performance claims from the manufacturer, not independently verified findings.
What does the 80% pressure claim mean?
AtaraxyBSC’s official product page advertises “80 % Less seat pressure” and says pressure may be reduced by up to 80%. Treat that as a manufacturer claim, not a guaranteed result or a general scientific finding: the available evidence does not establish that specific figure through an independent study. Individual comfort can vary, and the claim alone does not show how the saddle will feel for a particular rider.

What is known about its development and design recognition?
The 2024 Australian Good Design Awards entry says development began with Macan in 2016 and involved hundreds of prototypes and iterative design, build and test work. It describes components made in Melbourne and Taiwan from anodized aluminum, brass and engineering plastics, plus hand-upholstered, replaceable pads. The entry also says the team reviewed safety standards and designed to avoid hazardous pinch points.
The design received a Gold Award for Product Design and a Green Award, according to the awards entry. ABC News Australia also reports that it won two 2024 Australian Good Design Awards. Recognition for design is not clinical or comparative evidence that the saddle relieves pain.

Is the vabsRider available to buy now?
Availability is not confirmed by the cited status information. In a BackerKit update dated September 10, 2026, the team said shipping and tax emails had not yet been sent and that shipping was planned to commence in October. That update states an intention; it does not confirm that shipments began, that all backers received orders, or that retail stock is available.
The manufacturer’s website displays a preorder route, but current price, stock, delivery regions and consumer terms are not established here. Check the live manufacturer page and recent campaign updates before making a purchase decision. The earlier New Atlas report said a Kickstarter launch was planned for May 1, 2025; that historical plan does not answer present availability.
