The $89,900 starting price and anticipated mid-2026 U.S. deliveries were figures from SHM’s January 2025 plan—not current purchase or delivery terms.
What happened to Sony’s AFEELA 1?
AFEELA 1 was a planned electric vehicle from Sony Honda Mobility, the joint venture formed by Sony and Honda. On March 25, 2026, the companies announced that development and launch of AFEELA 1 and a second AFEELA model had been discontinued. Sony, Honda and SHM’s March 25 announcement
SHM said Honda’s reassessment of its automobile electrification strategy changed the availability of certain Honda technologies and assets that had been intended for the project. SHM concluded it did not have a viable path to bring the models to market as originally planned.
Where did the $89,900 price and mid-2026 date come from?
On January 6, 2025, SHM announced a planned AFEELA 1 starting price of $89,900 and said U.S. deliveries were anticipated in mid-2026. Those were forward-looking details for a vehicle that was still in development. The subsequent cancellation superseded that plan; the price is not an offer to buy the car, and the delivery forecast is no longer applicable. SHM’s January 2025 AFEELA 1 announcement
