What the E-Clipse 2.0 Race Edition offers
Solar Scooters describes the Race Edition as a version of its E-Clipse 2.0 intended for both urban roads and off-road riding. Its June 10, 2024 article lists a 13,000-watt peak encoder motor and an enhanced 18-MOSFET controller, alongside a claimed maximum speed of 65 mph (105 km/h). Range, battery and charging
The reported battery is a removable 72 V / 45 Ah pack made with LG-manufactured 21700 cells. Solar claims up to 70 miles (112.6 km) of range, while explicitly noting that this figure is not attainable at full speed. The article does not state a standardized test cycle or establish a real-world commuting range, so riders should not assume the maximum applies to their route, speed or conditions.
The manufacturer says charging takes less than three hours with the supplied charger plugged into a wall outlet. It also says regenerative braking may extend range, but does not quantify the gain. Charging time and any range benefit should therefore be treated as reported claims rather than independently verified results.

Equipment and road-use considerations
Reported features include adjustable suspension, remote lock and unlock with an alarm, and a lockable inverted fork. The bike is described with 19-inch enduro wheels; 16-inch super-moto wheels and full-carbon wheels are listed as options. The announcement also says turn signals, mirrors, a plate bracket and paperwork required for registration in US states are supplied.
Supplied equipment and paperwork do not establish that a particular bike can be registered or legally ridden on public roads in every state. The manufacturer says riders need an appropriate license and insurance; prospective owners should confirm the exact model’s current classification and registration requirements with their state motor-vehicle authority before buying. How to judge the sub-$7,000 claim today
The US$6,795.95 starting price appeared in Solar Scooters’ June 2024 announcement. It is a historical price, not a verified current offer; current price, inventory, warranty and delivery terms are not established here. The headline’s “sub-$7k” description should therefore be read as referring to that reported 2024 starting price, not as confirmation that the motorcycle can be bought for less than US$7,000 now.
For market context, Electrek reported in July 2025 that Zero’s XE and XB models were priced from US$4,395 to US$6,495 and were not street-legal in the United States at that time; homologated European versions were expected.
