Škoda announced series production at Mladá Boleslav on 6 August 2026 and reported almost 8,500 orders by the end of July; both figures are company statements, not independent market measurements. Delivery timing and even orderability can differ by country, so confirm them with a local Škoda source before treating the vehicle as available to you.

What the Škoda Peaq sets as the benchmark
Start every alternative search by writing down the Peaq specification you are trying to match. It is 4.87 metres long, has a wheelbase of almost three metres, and is offered with five or seven seats. That seating choice changes its practicality more than the exterior dimensions suggest.

These are manufacturer claims. They are a useful specification baseline, not an independent road test. Range figures should only be compared with an alternative when the certification cycle, battery state, wheel size and drivetrain basis match.

Choose alternatives by the job the SUV must do
If seven seats are non-negotiable
Limit the search to vehicles with a genuine third row, not a temporary jump seat or an occasional-use arrangement that cannot accept the passengers or child seats you carry. Sit in the rearmost row yourself, then install the child seats you actually use in the second row. Check whether an adult can enter without removing a child seat, and whether the third-row occupants have air vents, USB ports and a clear view.
Measure the luggage area with all seven seats in use. The Peaq’s published 299-litre figure behind the third row shows why this check matters: a seven-seat SUV can have family-sized exterior dimensions but only weekend-bag capacity when every seat is occupied. Ask each candidate’s seller for the same measurement convention and seat position; “maximum” cargo volume with rows folded is not a useful seven-person comparison.
If five seats are the normal arrangement
A five-seat electric SUV may deliver a lower purchase price, less mass and more efficient range than a seven-seat model. The Peaq’s five-seat maximum is 935 litres, so compare the length, width between wheel arches and loading height as well as the headline litre figure. A square boot can be more useful than a larger number that includes space under a movable floor.
Check whether the rear seats split in the pattern your equipment requires, whether a flat floor is created, and whether a heat pump, spare wheel or audio system reduces under-floor storage. A 37-litre front compartment is useful for charging cables, but it should not be counted as a substitute for a practical main boot.
If long motorway trips dominate
Prioritise a repeatable charging stop over a brochure peak. Compare the time from 10% to 80% (or another identical interval) on the same DC charger class, and ask for the complete charging curve rather than only the maximum kilowatt figure. Battery preconditioning, cold weather and a busy charger can matter more than a brief peak.

Map your regular routes and identify chargers that accept the vehicle’s connector, have sufficient power and are open at the times you travel. Confirm whether navigation automatically prepares the battery for a planned fast charge. A vehicle with a slightly shorter stated range can be the better travel tool if its charging network and route coverage are stronger where you drive.
If towing, snow or unpaved access matters
Match rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive to the actual use. All-wheel drive can improve traction, but it commonly adds mass and may reduce range; do not assume that an all-wheel-drive badge guarantees a higher towing limit. Obtain the exact braked and unbraked towing ratings, nose weight, payload and roof-load limits for the selected battery and wheel package.
For winter use, ask about battery preheating, heat-pump availability, ground clearance, traction-control calibration and the approved tyre sizes. Test the turning circle and camera visibility with a trailer attached. These are model- and trim-specific facts that must come from the local technical sheet rather than a general family brochure.
How to compare a Peaq alternative without misleading numbers
Seats and space
- Record the number of seats that can be used by adults, not merely the advertised maximum.
- Measure third-row legroom with the second row set for the tallest regular passenger.
- Measure boot length, width and height with the seats in their normal travel positions.
- Place your pram, sports equipment or instrument cases in the boot and close the tailgate.
- Check ISOFIX points, top-tether locations and access around each child seat.
Use the same process for the Peaq and every candidate. Do not combine a five-seat maximum figure from one model with a seven-seat, seats-up figure from another.
Range and charging
Write each vehicle’s battery size as gross and usable capacity when both are published. Record the test cycle and the exact motor, drivetrain and wheel combination. A range number without those qualifiers is not an apples-to-apples result. For the Peaq, Škoda lists 91/86 kWh and 63/59 kWh gross/net batteries and states more than 640 km for the largest specification; verify the certified value and local trim before using it in a purchase calculation.

Compare 10–80% charging times on a consistent basis. Škoda lists 28 minutes for the Peaq 90 and 90x and 27 minutes for the 60. Ask whether those times assume a warm battery, a particular charger output or a software update. Also check AC charging power, because overnight charging at home may be more important than a rare peak DC session.

Build a total on-the-road figure, not just a headline list price. Include the battery and drivetrain you need, seven-seat or towing options, heat pump, charging cable, metallic paint, finance fees, taxes and registration. Then compare standard equipment line by line. The Peaq’s Relax Package and premium audio are disclosed as features, but market-specific prices and standard-equipment matrices are not established in the manufacturer material cited here.
Request a written delivery estimate and ask whether the quoted date is a factory allocation, a dealer vehicle or an unconfirmed forecast. Check cancellation terms if a rival can arrive sooner. Incentives, tax treatment and stock can change by country and month, so use a dated local quotation for every candidate.
Ownership support
Compare the warranty on the complete vehicle, battery and corrosion separately. Confirm the battery’s capacity-retention threshold, permitted servicing locations, roadside assistance period and the process for software faults. Ask how over-the-air updates are delivered and whether essential functions remain available if connectivity is interrupted.
Count authorised service locations within a realistic journey, not just the national total. For a large electric SUV, also verify access to high-power public charging, the manufacturer’s roaming arrangements and the cost of any required subscription. These practical details can outweigh a small difference in advertised range.

Peaq-specific features worth checking against rivals
Vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-home
Škoda describes vehicle-to-load capability for powering external devices. Its press material says vehicle-to-home requires the MOON POWER Ambibox DC Wallbox and is available only where the service is supported. Treat this as a system purchase, not a simple vehicle option: confirm the exact Peaq configuration, compatible wallbox, electrical installation, grid rules and local service availability before assigning it value.
When comparing another SUV, ask whether bidirectional charging is vehicle-to-load only or supports home backup, whether an inverter is included, and whether warranty terms cover the use. A demonstration with your electrician is safer than relying on a badge in a specification list.
Infotainment and comfort
The Peaq uses an Android-based infotainment system and a 13.6-inch vertical central display. Check smartphone projection, physical controls, screen response, voice recognition and rear-seat visibility during a test drive. The optional Relax Package and Sonos-developed audio should be compared with the rival’s actual trim content, not with a base-model price.
Development claims versus independent evidence
Škoda reported more than 1.5 million kilometres of prototype testing in its 15 June 2026 release. Board Member for Technical Development Johannes Neft said: “The Škoda Peaq is the result of an extensive development and testing process, during which our engineers verified the functionality and durability of all key components and design elements.” This describes the company’s development programme, not an independent durability test or a guarantee of fault-free ownership.

Test-drive and buying sequence
- Set hard constraints. Decide the minimum seats, luggage capacity with those seats occupied, winter range, home-charging availability and maximum delivered price.
- Verify local supply. Ask a dealer or official configurator whether the exact battery, drivetrain and seat layout can be ordered in your country, and obtain a dated delivery estimate.
- Standardise the data. Enter range, battery, charge time, cargo and price using the same definitions for every vehicle.
- Inspect real space. Bring your child seats, luggage and charging cable to the appointment. Test access to every row and the tailgate opening.
- Test charging. If possible, use a public fast charger on a demonstration drive and confirm connector position, route planning and battery preconditioning.
- Price the complete system. Add a home charger, electrical work, insurance, tyres, servicing and any bidirectional-charging hardware.
- Read the contract. Check the battery warranty, cancellation rights, delivery conditions, included cables and the exact vehicle identification or build specification.
Common comparison mistakes
- Choosing on maximum range alone: a test-cycle figure does not predict your winter motorway result. Use your route, speed and charging stops.
- Comparing folded-seat cargo figures: record capacity with the seats you actually carry occupied.
- Treating peak charging power as charging speed: the complete 10–80% time and charge curve are more useful.
- Assuming every advertised variant is available: country, trim and production allocation can change the answer.
- Counting optional equipment as standard: obtain a written equipment list for the quoted vehicle.
- Assuming all-wheel drive solves every winter problem: tyres, ground clearance, battery temperature and payload still matter.
- Buying bidirectional hardware before checking compatibility: vehicle, wallbox, installer, grid rules and software service must all align.
- Using manufacturer testing as independent proof: development kilometres and company claims are useful context, but they are not third-party comparative results.
Which type of alternative should you pursue?
Choose another large seven-seat electric SUV when
You regularly carry six or seven people, need useful luggage space behind the third row, or require a towing and payload specification the Peaq configuration cannot provide. Make the decision only after a seats-up inspection and a written local quote.
Choose a five-seat electric SUV when
Your third row would remain folded, you value a larger uninterrupted boot, or a lighter vehicle better suits your charging and efficiency priorities. Compare the actual loading dimensions, not just the published volume.
Stay with the Peaq when
Its five- or seven-seat flexibility, stated battery and charging options, local delivery date and available support meet your constraints at a total cost you accept. The Peaq’s published specification is a strong starting point, but your final decision should be based on the exact market configuration and a physical test with your family’s equipment.
Škoda CEO Klaus Zellmer describes the Peaq as “designed for real life – for families who need space, for drivers who want confidence on long journeys, and for anyone who values modern style without compromise.” Treat that as the manufacturer’s design objective, then verify the practical details yourself before signing.
